Under the direct supervision of the Manager - Program Development, the Indigenous Cultural Safety Lead is responsible for overseeing corporate cultural safety initiatives that align with the St. Joseph's Care Group (SJCG) Walking with Humility plans and corporate strategic plans. Key responsibilities include collecting data, data analysis, planning, designing, developing, implementing, coordinating, facilitating, and re-evaluating Indigenous cultural safety policies, procedures, education, and practices with a goal of advancing SJCG's capacity to offer a culturally safe and inclusive environment for all Indigenous staff and clients.

**Qualifications**

**Education/Experience**:

- A level of education, training and experience equivalent to an undergraduate or graduate (i.e. Masters preferred) in Nursing, Public Policy and Governance, Social Justice or a relevant/related discipline.
- Experience working on an interprofessional team, collaborating with Indigenous and non-Indigenous stakeholders.

**Skills/Abilities**:

- Demonstrates knowledge and commitment to the Health Ethics Guide developed by the Catholic Health Alliance of Canada (CHAC), First Nations principles of data ownership, control, access, and possession (OCAP), and Accreditation Canada/Health Standard Organization British Columbia Cultural Safety and Humility Standard.
- Well versed in The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada's final report (specifically the healthcare calls to action), the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, In Plain Sight: Addressing Indigenous -Specific Racism and Discrimination in Healthcare and adult learning principles and practices.
- Advanced skills in mixed methods data collection, analysis, and dissemination.
- Proven ability to leverage passions contributing to positive social change and supporting anti-oppression/anti-racism environments.
- Ability to assess/manage complex cultural issues in dynamic environments that are often cross-cultural/emotionally-charged.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and relationship and team building skills.
- Must have the ability to thrive in a fast paced, constantly evolving environment.
- Must be self-directed with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an interprofessional team environment.
- Supports curriculum development, including educational materials and resources.
- Ability to teach, coach, and mentor staff at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to speak an Indigenous language is preferred.
- Ability to operate related equipment, including computer hardware and software.
- Ability to perform the essential physical requirements of the position.

**Assets**:

- Experience in utilizing a Two-Eyed Seeing framework for program evaluation/data collection, analysis, and dissemination considered an asset.
- Experience in policy and procedure writing considered an asset.

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**
- This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Criminal Record & Judicial Matter Check (CRJMC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
