Café Manager

**About the Role**:
The Café Manager will work closely with, and report to the Manager, Hospitality and lead a team of Baristas. This role will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shops, promoting coffee and alcohol consumption by educating residents and guests, and assisting with the preparation and service of a variety of coffee and tea beverages, a full wine, beer and cocktail offering, as well as pastries and small snacks.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Scheduling, training and supervising the Barista team
- Managing stock levels and ordering
- Balancing cash and completing balance sheets, cash reports and related forms
- Managing invoices according to Fitzrovia’s filing system
- Completing monthly inventory
- Creating and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and customers
- Ensuring health and safety regulations are followed
- Participating in marketing plans and implementation
- Enforcing provincial/territorial liquor legislation and regulations
- Addressing customers’ complaints or concerns
- Daily setup and breakdown of the coffee station
- Preparing and serving hot and cold drinks, snacks and other menu items.
- Ensure café menu items are prepped as required, coffee is brewed consistently throughout the shift, ensuring proper temperature of all products
- Maintain knowledge of all menu items, and be able to provide recommendations
- Assist guests with food and beverage orders in a friendly and timely manner
- Ensure the café space is kept clean and presentable throughout the course of the shift
- Manage cash handling and payments, ensuring accuracy and proper close-out
- Participate in teamwork and foster harmonious working climate
- Ensure proper hygiene / handwashing throughout the shift
- Ensure excellent customer service for guests at all times
**Qualifications and Experiences**:
- Bachelors degree, Diploma or Certificate in hospitality management is an asset
- Knowledge of cocktails, beer and wine is an asset
- 1-2 years of previous supervisory experience in a fast-paced food and beverage operation
- 2-3 years of barista and specialty coffee experience
- Hospitality driven, positive attitude, able to provide outstanding customer service
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Confidence with espresso machines and creating a variety of beverages
- Ability to effectively lead and motivate a team
- Passionate about food and beverage, especially coffee and wine service
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with a positive attitude
- Ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines
- Self-motivated, curious, responsive, and result driven.
- Strong teamwork, decision & problem-solving and attention to detail.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
- Food Handlers’ and Smart Serve Certified
