Reporting to the General Manager, the Café Manager is responsible for creating engaging and memorable stories for our guests by ensuring the Café team delivers exceptional service. The Café Manager will manage and control Front of House areas/sections of the café to ensure it is meeting and exceeding expectations in standards, maximizing revenues and profits by following agreed upon processes and policies while ensuring unforgettable service is delivered to guests. Our managers are accountable for the day-to-day operations of the café including staffing, cleanliness, cost controls, staff training, budgeting, administration and active floor management.

- Assist guests in ordering in an informative and timely manner.
- Resolve and/or escalate any customer issues.
- Listen, empathize and find appropriate solutions to resolve guest issues to the guest’s satisfaction.
- Recover service issues and win over guests before they leave the café.
- Build loyalty through exceptional service and genuine care.

- Train staff in job duties, sanitation and safety procedures.

- Resolve and/or escalate any staff issues or incidents that may arise.

**Our Business**:
- Control inventory, monitor product shelf life
- Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations of the café, including shift meetings and coordinating between Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) team, controlling and monitoring the operation of the FOH and BOH teams during each shift.
- Implement operational procedures and policies including shift to shift procedures.
- Ensure health and safety regulations, including Covid-19 protocols, are followed.
- Prepare daily reports.
- Participate in marketing plans and implement promotions strategies.
- Monitor and control the implementation of marketing strategies for The Distillery Restaurants Corp. designated venues.
- Build and nurture professional relationships with guests, DRC employees, leadership, suppliers/vendors, industry peers and partners, and the local community at large.
- Maintain cleanliness of the café on both sides of the counter.
- Train and coach staff in high level customer service.
- Other duties as required.
**Skills & Abilities**:
- A strong foundation in managing a café environment.
- Refined ability to speak, write and understand English fluently. Additional language(s) considered an asset.
- Exceptional ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess calm under pressure.
- Exceptional interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent organizational skills
- Confidence to go above and beyond to resolve guest complaints and create guest loyalty
- A self-starter with the drive to provide phenomenal guest experiences resulting in lasting memories for our guests
**Education and Experience**:
- One (1) - two (2) years working in a fast-paced restaurant
- Supervisory experience in food service.
- Hospitality, F&B Management, Business degree/diploma or the equivalent in experience.
- Familiarity with budgets, appropriate cost control measures, inventory, sourcing and ordering product, and building supplier relationships
- Familiarity with point-of-sale system, Silverware, is an asset
**Working Conditions**:
- Café environment where there is physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, and the like.
- Combination of sitting, Standing, walking
- Regular interruptions and multiple demands.
- Working directly with the public.
- Must be able to work flexible hours including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
