The Ministry of Municipal Affairs supports municipalities in providing well-managed, fiscally responsible, and accountable local government to Albertans. This includes administering municipal grant programs; delivering advisory and capacity-building supports; providing municipal services and managing public lands in the province’s three Special Areas; and overseeing the safety codes system in the province. The ministry also fosters stronger, safer communities across the province, and enables local governments to facilitate Alberta’s economic prosperity.

**Role Responsibilities**:
This position is responsible for the preparation of complex designated industrial (DI) property assessment on behalf of the Provincial Assessor for the Province of Alberta.

**Responsibilities Include**:
1. Provide guidance and coordination in the preparation and production of the DI property assessment
2. Provide expert assessment advise on inventory being valued and ensuring the processes/procedures described are followed
3. Defend assessments before the Land and Property Rights Tribunal
5. Support the PA’s office by ensuring that information given to assessment stakeholders relating to DI property assessments is consistent, appropriate and in conformance with related regulations

**Qualifications**:
Minimum recruitment standards outline the minimum education and experience required for appointment to a job classification.

A degree in a related field, or related field, plus four years of related work experience in government or a field related to one of the above degrees

**Equivalency**: Directly related education or experience considered based on:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

**Assets**
- Post secondary diploma in real property appraisal
- Accreditation with AAA (AMAA), IAAO (CAE), or the Appraisal Institute (AACI)
- A minimum of 5 years in the preparation and defense of industrial property assessments
- Understanding of capital cost reporting and the Construction Cost Reporting Guide
- Familiarity with the Machinery and Equipment Guideline

**Notes**:
This position may be used to fill future vacancies across the Government of Alberta, at equal or lower classification and salary.

**Hours of Work**: Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week.
