Freight Forwarding Operations Supervisor

Grando Logistics Canada Inc. is a leading freight forwarding company in Vancouver, Canada. We are looking for an operations supervisor to head our new Toronto office.

The operations supervisor is responsible for the effective coordination and direction of all employees who are engaged in handling ocean import shipments. This position must foster and maintain a strong team environment, motivate team members, and ensure optimal efficiency of the team. The operations supervisor is expected to handle shipments as well.

**Duties include**:

- Handle shipping documents; prepare documents for sorting and distribution of cargo
- Monitor shipments closely to meet deadlines and avoid delays
- Follow up with CBSA on issues of inspection and/or examination
- Keep clients informed of any and all changes, facilitating all aspects of cargo importation as necessary until goods are successfully delivered to clients
- Provide quotations to clients and oversea agents
- Step in to assist with all matters related to ocean import operations when required and troubleshooting any issues brought up by the operators
- Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with our clients, vendors, and overseas agents
- Maintain profitability of accounts and identify opportunities of profit increases by negotiating with vendors and agents
- Conduct performance evaluations and report business activities to the General Manager

**Requirements**:

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (especially Outlook, Word, and Excel) is a **_must_**:

- At least 3 years of freight forwarding/ocean logistics experience - handling FCL or LCL - is a **_must_**:

- Proficiency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese is a **_must_**:

- Highly motivated and detail-oriented team player with strong communication skills and customer service skills
- Quick learner; ability to adapt and thrive under pressure
- Must have a high level of organization
- Must have proficient verbal and written communication skills in English

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: From $4,500.00 per month

Flexible Language Requirement:

- French not required

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends

Supplemental pay types:

- Bonus pay

**Experience**:

- freight forwarding: 3 years (preferred)

**Language**:

- Mandarin/Cantonese (required)
