**Construction Carpenter**

Hiring Full-Time Construction Carpenter

**Location**:
Multiple Sites - in London and area. Construction Carpenter will be required to travel between locations, so a reliable vehicle is required.

**Summary of the Position**:
Apex Property Management and Consulting Inc. requires an energetic, motivated and career-minded Construction Carpenter responsible for repairing and maintaining units within properties Apex oversees. The Construction Carpenter will be responsible for making repairs to the internal and external structures and ensuring buildings are safe. The Construction Carpenter must possess a strong working knowledge of residential construction and remodeling trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, and safety. The Construction Carpenter must be proficient at the following tasks: trim work, hang doors, drill and set door hardware, set windows, common residential construction work, with the ability to read blueprints, and must possess mathematical and analytical skills necessary to do material estimates.

**Carpenter Major Responsibilities**
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
- Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
- Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
- Estimate costs and materials when required
- Maintain, repair and renovate residences and other establishments
- Ensure safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, City, Province, and Federal guidelines
- Troubleshoots and performs maintenance and/or repair on the following items: Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Flooring, Roofing, Lighting, Smoke Alarms, Appliances, Water Systems, Interior and Exterior Structures (stairs, gates, fences, railings, walls, doors, windows, cabinets, etc )
- Maintains positive resident, customer relations/service attitude
- Performs additional duties as assigned.

**Desired Skills and Experience**
- Carpentry experience of minimum three (3) years or more
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Working knowledge of the Building Code, Fire Code, and the Occupational Health & Safety Act of Ontario
- Technical training preferred
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Knowledge in a variety of trade areas common to the field of building maintenance and construction
- Knowledge of the use and operation of hand tools, power tools, and equipment
- Carpentry, basic electrical wiring, basic plumbing and commercial kitchen equipment repair skills are required.
- Must possess good oral and written communication skills and blueprint reading skills.
- A reliable vehicle and a basic set of tools is required

**Salary**: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
