Students will learn how to confidently lead activities involving music and how to incorporate music into their classes, while developing their own musicianship skills through singing and playing musical instruments: creating and performing; reflecting, responding, and analysing; and exploring forms and cultural contexts of music..25 credit Design and deliver engaging, hands-on instruction grounded in the Ontario Arts Curriculum (Grades 1-8) Introduce a range of accessible musical tools, resources, and approaches appropriate for elementary learners Foster an inclusive classroom environment that emphasizes cultural relevance and musical equity Collaborate with course team or administration to ensure alignment with B.Ed. program goals and standards **Responsibilities**: You will be responsible for all activities associated with the successful delivery of the course, including but not limited to: developing, preparing, and delivering the course; setting and marking examinations, assessing the academic work of students, and reporting grades. **Qualifications**: - Qualifications (Minimum Required): - Qualifications related to teaching Music at the Primary/Junior/Intermediate level or equivalent - Demonstrated record of success in teaching music in elementary classroom or studio contexts - Master’s degree, specialist’s certificate, or equivalent in Education or Music Education - Familiarity with the Ontario Arts Curriculum, with a focus on Grades 1-8 music - Strong pedagogical understanding of foundational music instruction and inclusive teaching practices - Preferred Qualifications / Assets: - OCT certification - Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning, differentiated instruction, and equity-informed pedagogy in music - Experience integrating music across other curricular areas In accordance with the Faculty Collective Agreement, consideration of applicants will include an assessment of previous performance, experience, and qualifications, including qualifications which go beyond the requirements for the position.
