Students will explore the role of music educators and the place of music in schools and community. This course includes the development of teaching approaches for contemporary instrumental techniques and curriculum, with appropriate resources; repertoire selection; score study; and conducting..5 credit. Prepare and deliver course content aligned with approved learning outcomes and curriculum expectations. Provide instruction in conducting, score reading, rehearsal techniques, and inclusive classroom management in instrumental settings. Provide timely constructive feedback and evaluate student performance based on established criteria. Collaborate with other instructors in the arts area, as appropriate. Submit final grades and maintain communication with the Teacher Education Office or course coordinator, if applicable. **Responsibilities**: You will be responsible for all activities associated with the successful delivery of the course, including but not limited to: developing, preparing, and delivering the course; setting and marking examinations, assessing the academic work of students, and reporting grades. **Qualifications**: - Qualifications (Minimum Required): - Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Music Education, Instrumental Music, Curriculum Studies, or a related field. - Qualifications in Intermediate/Senior Instrumental Music and demonstrated experience teaching in school-based music programs. - Experience working with inclusive and culturally responsive music programs. - Familiarity with integrating music technology, digital tools, and cross-curricular arts integration. - Preferred Qualifications / Assets: - Doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Music Education or related discipline. - Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification in good standing (current) or held within the last five years. - Record of effective teaching performance at the post-secondary or teacher education level.
