Customs & Trade Compliance Manager

At A & A, we’re looking for an experienced Customs & **Trade Compliance Manager** in the customs brokerage and logistics industry who is fully versed in the compliance industry and who will provide strong leadership and guidance to our **Canadian Compliance** team. As part of the A & A team, you'll represent the A & A brand, values & promise in all that you do.*
Reporting to the COO, as the Customs & Trade Compliance Manager you will play a critical role in mitigating regulatory risk for our clients while leading and supporting the Compliance team. This team is responsible for accurately rating and classifying goods to seamlessly facilitate cross-border shipments while conveying our value proposition to our clients.
The Customs & Trade Compliance Manager is also accountable for the coordination and management of projects, mentoring and training of staff, generating revenue through consulting activities, and managing KPIs and reporting.

Job Description*
Here's the impact you’ll make at A & A as the Customs & Trade Compliance Manager:*
- Lead and implement a best in class Compliance and Consulting strategy focused on building, managing, and growing long-term partnerships with our clients
- Provide leadership support for a team of skilled Compliance Specialists through daily interactions, customer-first resolutions, and new business development strategies
- Advocate for your clients by championing continuous improvement initiatives and proactively communicating with stakeholders to improve service delivery and resolve issues
- Identify and proactively lead opportunities to integrate additional services, and new revenue opportunities, manage compliance verifications and perform post-Incident reviews
- Provide and support consulting services to our clients, including duty drawbacks
- Track, analyze, and manage KPIs for continuous improvement
- Keep our clients informed in advance of industry regulations that may be of interest to them through the delivery of seminars, videos, blog posts, or articles
- Work closely with the Operations, Client Services, and Sales teams to manage client needs and expectations as well as to define the scope and pricing of additional services to meet unique client needs

Qualifications*
Here’s the expertise that you will bring to the role and to A & A:*
- 5+ years of leadership experience building and supporting high-performance teams
- You are experienced in dealing with trade and customs matters with a concentration in tariff classification, rules of origin, permits, B2 corrections, and customs valuation
- Must have the following designations: Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) and/or Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS)
- Exceptional leadership attributes and abilities: Collaboration, communication, creative thinking, and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop strong business relationships both internally within the organization and externally with clients and stakeholders
- A strong client focus to deliver positive outcomes
- Understanding of CARM and how this will impact our clients and prospects
- Highly motivated and self-sufficient, able to work successfully under pressure and in the face of ambiguity - proactively identify when it is necessary to take certain actions and move ahead with confidence
- Preferred experience: Licensed Customs Broker
