**About Us - The Company**
TAG Hardware designs, engineers, and manufactures products for the closet and modular furniture industry. Our 70,000 square foot brand new manufacturing plant is located in South Surrey, British Columbia. The facility also houses our head office, plastic injection molding machines, powder coating machine, assembly work stations, and a warehouse, where we develop and produce our patented products for customers globally.
**About the Role - Position Purpose/Objective**:
TAG Hardware is looking for an experienced Trade Compliance Specialist to oversee our trade operations and drive a strategic approach to global growth within international regulatory frameworks. This high-impact, high-responsibility role ensures adherence to U.S. and international trade laws across our products and operations.

**Key Responsibilities - What You’ll Do**:
- Act as the internal expert on global trade regulations, including U.S. and international import/export controls.
- Lead classification efforts for HTS and ECCN codes, determine country of origin, and develop valuation strategies to support compliant and optimized trade operations.
- Interpret tariff schedules to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for duty savings.
- Collaborate with Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to assess trade risks and implement scalable, compliant processes.
- Communicate trade compliance strategies and risk insights to executive leadership.
- Stay current on evolving regulatory requirements and proactively update internal trade compliance policies and procedures.
- Prepare and submit Advance Rulings and regulatory correspondence related to tariff classifications, origin determinations, valuations, voluntary disclosures, re-determination requests, appeals, and other relevant matters.
- Manage relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, regulatory agencies, and external consultants
- Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Customs Compliance, or a related field (Master’s degree or legal background a plus).
- 7+ years of progressive experience in international trade compliance, preferably in a manufacturing, tech, or logistics-intensive environment.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. import/export regulations (including ITAR, EAR, and CBP regulations) and international customs laws.
- Proven hands-on experience with HTS classification, ECCN, country of origin, and FTA eligibility.
- Demonstrated success managing trade compliance strategy, documentation, and communications with regulatory bodies.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interface confidently with senior stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across functions and geographies.
- Great attention to detail.
- Certifications (e.g., Licensed Customs Broker (LCB), Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), Certified Export Specialist (CES) are a plus.
