The purpose of the role is to act as a leader with full people management responsibilities over an HR team comprising of at least one other people manager and individual contributors assigned to support strategic and operations/essential HR work for an area.

Employees at this level work with a high degree of latitude, have expert knowledge, and handle the most complex issues and problems.

This role reports to the Area Director for Temporal Affairs with frequent partnership with Human Resource department and area leaders, workforce and area leaders, area HR teams, headquarter COEs, and Legal Counsel.

Accountable to deliver the following strategic activities in addition to delivering essential activities through the Area HR Core team and individual contributor Area HR Generalists:
Strategic HR Core responsibilities
- Lead succession planning efforts, especially for director/critical roles/high potentials
- Lead workforce planning efforts
- Lead organization effectiveness/change implementation (e.g., ATAO, Global O&M Initiative)
- Coach, lead, and implement organizational change
- Consult on and support organizational design efforts
- Analyze and diagnose the organization
- Coach senior leaders
- Design recognition initiatives
- Lead talent councils
- Drive culture and engagement practices
- Interpret and use workforce analytics
- Review and develop local adaptations for global policy, guiding principles, or practices (if applicable)
- Lead and participate in executive coaching
- Implement employee engagement survey action plans

Strategic Talent responsibilities
- Create and foster strategic sourcing relationships (university recruiting, job fairs, etc)
- Assess through needs analysis
- Lead team effectiveness initiatives
- Consult regarding employee development tools such as stretch assignments, mentoring, development assignments, and domestic/global rotations
- Lead department talent efforts
- Develop Talent Development Strategy
- Develop department training

Required:

- Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent in a related field
- 6 years industry-related experience
- Deep strategic and HR operational knowledge
- Familiarity with best practices of HR functions
- Key skills and core competencies include the ability to:

- Align human capital and leadership priorities to key business objectives
- Build relationships with Area and HQ leadership
- Consult with business leaders
- Think strategically and systematically to solve complex problems
- Analyze and interpret data
- Assess and diagnose organizations
- Assess organizational effectiveness
- Develop and implement short to long term business strategies
- Lead and implement organizational change
- Develop organization culture
- Communicate effectively in writing and verbally through influence and compromise
- To successfully perform the essential functions of the job there may be physical requirements which need to be met such as sitting for extended periods of time and using computer monitors/equipment.

Preferred:

- Master's degree preferred
- CHRP, SHRM or equivalent
- French language capability a plus

**Additional Employment Criteria**:

- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship
- Must be able to reside in Toronto, Canada, while employed in this role
