Overview:
Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Manager, Total Rewards & HR Administration provides strategic HR leadership and oversight of total rewards policies, programs and practices, as well as providing guidance to the Supervisor, HR Administrative Services to support the executive team and the Human Resources (HR) directorate.
The Manager, Total Rewards & HR Administration is responsible to develop and deliver services and programming that meets the strategic needs of the corporation, anticipating evolving issues, requirements and solutions that address the impact of emerging trends to attract, retain and reward employees.
**Responsibilities**:
- Participate in development of strategic HR initiatives to improve envisioned future operations and achieve the short and long-term corporate goals.
- Understand the pulse of the corporation at all levels and acts as a conduit back to the Director, Human Resources and into the broader team.
- Lead a team of HR professionals to create and deliver value added HR services and programs.
- Provide leadership and direction on complex issues, acting as a point of escalation.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of the corporation’s compensation philosophy, compensation strategies, processes and practices to meet the needs of the business and corporate objectives.
- Responsible for the management and evaluation of employee benefits programming.
- Provide advice and consult with management on HR administration processes and practices, including making recommendations on guidelines, procedures or policies.
- Responsible for activities of a manager, including management of an operating budget, participating in strategic planning, budgeting for special projects, and improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Commerce, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- A professional designation such as Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) is an asset.
- Eight years of progressively responsible human resources experience, including two years in a management or leadership role. Related experience must include a variety of functions, such as (but not limited to) compensation and salary administration, recognition programming, and employee benefit programming.
- Experience in a unionized environment is a strong asset.
- Excellent working knowledge of applicable legislation, including the Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Code, Labour Relations Act, and other related labour and human resource legislation.
- Thorough knowledge of job evaluation, salary analysis, compensation practices, programs, policies, collective agreements, and other related human resource policies and practices.
- Sound analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills to understand broad HR issues and resolve conflict situations in a diplomatic manner.
- A strong business orientation and a commitment to superior customer service.
- Demonstrated experience in building strong inter-departmental relationships to meet goals.
