**JSU237H1: Introduction to HIV/AIDS: Health, Sexuality and Gender - Biomed Section**
- A critical examination of the HIV/AIDS global pandemic from a multidisciplinary perspective and with an emphasis on sexuality. The course examines the basic biology of HIV/AIDS and then covers social, historical, political, cultural, gender, and public health aspects of HIV/AIDS. Attention is given to the distinct features of vulnerable and marginalized populations, prevention, treatment, drug development, and access to medicines._

**Minimum Qualifications**

Master’s degree in Immunology, Biomedicine, Epidemiology, or related field, with specific research expertise in HIV/AIDS.

**Preferred Qualifications**

Research experience on the biological/biomedical aspects of HIV/AIDS, including: immunopathogenesis, current prevention and treatment regimens, historical background of the science of HIV/AIDS, the local and global sociopolitical contexts in which it has occurred both locally and globally. Experience teaching health science to interdisciplinary students from sciences, social sciences, and humanities backgrounds. Experience working with an interdisciplinary teaching team.

**Duties**
- Facilitating and/or delivering guest lectures, as part of a teaching team
- Creating, administering, and grading quizzes
- Responding to student enquiries
- Holding office hours to meet with students, if applicable
- Occasional meetings with supervisor and teaching team

**Hours of work**: 150 hours

**Estimated Course Enrolment**: 80 students

**Rate of Pay**: Sessional Instructional Assistant - $54.27 per hour
