Scope of Work
To provide confidential support to a tenured faculty member in the Department of Educational Studies in the Faculty of Education in completing various administrative duties. Thorough knowledge of the University and Faculty systems, policies and procedures are expected. Must be able to handle confidential information and data.
Organizational Status
The position reports to Administrative Manager in the Department of Educational Studies (EDST) in the Faculty of Education but works directly with a tenured faculty member. The role involves interaction with staff in EDST and the Faculty of Education, and may require contacting other service units across UBC such as IT, CTLT, ORS, and Payroll as needed.
Work Performed
Support the faculty member's communication with students on Canvas;
Review the faculty member's course outlines before uploading them to Canvas and help the faculty member organize and keep track of the delivery timelines;
Keep the faculty member's research website page up-to-date by editing and updating content which contains graphics and text;
Assist with payment process to students for working on the faculty member's research projects;
Support the faculty member's service work (scholarship adjudication for instance) by organizing and keeping track of the information using Excel spreadsheets or online forms.
Perform other administrative tasks that the faculty member needs assistance with in their teaching, research and/or service activities.
Supervision Received
Reports to the Administrative Manager and works closely with the faculty member. Performs most duties independently and by following the established procedures; but refers to Administrative Manager when work departs from established policies and guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications
High School graduation, plus one year of post-secondary education, plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to be thorough and maintain accuracy with high attention to detail.
Ability to deal with a diverse group of people calmly, courteously, and effectively, including developing and maintaining productive working relationships.
Ability to work both independently and participate as an effective member in a team environment.
Knowledge of UBC policies and procedures and the use of Workday and Canvas are assets.
