Strategic Procurement Specialist

The Opportunity:
The Strategic Procurement Specialist will be an important member of the ApplyBoard
Corporate Finance team. This role will be responsible for all aspects of Procurement to support
ApplyBoard’s global business and will report to the Director of Strategic Sourcing in the
Kitchener HQ office.

The Specialist will be responsible for managing both the strategic and tactical
procurement objectives primarily for low to moderate risk engagements. He/she will also be
expected to work directly with Legal Counsel and other leaders on a regular basis.
The Specialist will partner with the Director to establish and implement short and long
- term procurement goals, strategic plans, policies and procedures for the organization. The role
will mitigate risk, leverage technology, contribute towards process and systems improvements,
and reduce the overall cost of ownership and acquisition.

- What you'll be doing everyday:
- Execute procurement strategies across the enterprise to ensure consistent and high-quality value delivery-
- Lead contract negotiations with key internal stakeholders, legal counsel and support groups for low to moderate engagements-
- Manage the supplier contract lifecycle management process-
- Implement best practices in procurement and supplier management to support commercial and operational objectives and risk management-
- Serve as a key contact for procurement-related questions, training, policy and procedure interpretation and alignment by all departments-
- Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers to assure cost, quality and delivery targets are met-
- Contribute towards the Procure-to-Pay upcoming NetSuite system implementation and business changes globally-
- Provide monthly/ad hoc PO and spend reporting to Finance and audit support-
- Provide training and mentor business partners on procurement processes-
- Drive business process improvements for procurement operations- What you bring to the table:
- University graduate with a strong academic record; business, finance or economics background required-
- CSCMP certification or equivalent a plus but not required-
- 1 - 3 years of related prior work experience-
- Experience in technology or financial services an asset-
- Good people and communication skills, verbal & written-
- Superb attention to detail resulting in “0-defect” analysis-
- Proactive and goal-oriented personality, good at juggling multiple tasks-
- Collaborative style and experience with cross-functional teams-
- Must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and be flexible to react to changing priorities-
- Personal fit with ApplyBoard culture: adhering to the highest standard of integrity, high energy, sense of humor, friendly, team player-
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills required; experience with Netsuite, Hyperion and Business-
- Strong financial analysis skills-
