The Director Beausoleil & Forensic Assessment Program & Clinical Liaison Ontario Review Board is currently seeking a Clinical Liaison Officer. The purpose of the position is to represent the Person in Charge at Ontario Review Board hearings, develop the hospital report for patients detained under the Criminal Code of Canada, prepare evidence and witnesses, and to liaise with the Board on behalf of the Person in Charge.

Key Accountabilities:

- Represent the Person in Charge as a party at all Ontario Review Board hearings by preparing the Hospital’s Report based on a comprehensive review of the clinical record; articulate the position of the Person in Charge to the clinical teams, patient's counsel, ORB and Attorney General; arrange and chair pre-board conferences; arrange for the provision of psychiatric consultations.
- Prepare and present the hospital's case by calling and preparing witnesses, leading evidence, cross-examining the witnesses of other parties, prepare submissions; consider need for legal counsel for particularly high profile or complicated cases; act as resource to hospital Administration and the Board in all relevant matters.
- Liaise with the Board with respect to matters pertaining to patients under its jurisdiction, i.e. potential adjournments, length of hearings; liaise with Legal Branch, Ministry of Attorney General, Corrections Canada, patient's counsel, etc. regarding patients who are under the jurisdiction of the Ontario Review Board.
- Provide educational programs on the Criminal Code of Canada and Ontario Review Board to staff, students and other stakeholders; provide educational tours of the facility; act as resource person for hospital activities; participate in various task groups regarding policies.

Requirements/Qualifications:

- Post-secondary education in a health related field is mandatory (preferably a university degree)
- Preference for current and unrestricted membership in a health care regulatory college (Please note: current psychometrists will also be considered)
- Minimum 3 years of recent experience in a clinical role within forensic mental health
- Demonstrated experience with the Ontario Review Board, Criminal Code, forensic services in Ontario and relevant legislation
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills; including report writing
- Proven Advanced level computer software knowledge and experience including proficiency in Microsoft suite of products and database software
- Results oriented work ethic to work independently and undertake tasks needed to accomplish work objectives and deliver quality, consistent and timely results
- Demonstrated analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Proven ability to adapt readily to change
- Models and promotes core ethical practice, Waypoint Values, and reflects an optimistic and positive attitude
- Preference for proficiency in French/English language skills
