Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 315-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.

The Director, Awenda, Beckwith, and Brebeuf Programs is currently seeking a full-time Clinical Manager for the Beckwith A Program. The purpose of the position is to Manages and leads all staff in the daily operational provision of patient/client care and services to support patient/client recovery in a safe environment for patients and staff.

The Beckwith program is in the high-secure forensic area which is an all-male facility. There are 40 beds on the Beckwith program, this is divided into separate units; Beckwith A and Beckwith B. The patient population Beckwith serves is primarily individuals that suffer treatment resistant psychotic disorders. We are an interdisciplinary team primarily made up of psychometry, psychiatry, social work, recreation therapy, addictions counselling, behavioural support and nursing staff. Our primary focus or mandate of care on Beckwith is reducing or eliminating the patients violent, suicidal, or self-injurious risks while treating the underlying mental illness. This is done using a combination of pharmacological and psychotherapeutic interventions. This is a challenging but rewarding work environment for those interested in helping rehabilitate and support patients living with serious mental illness

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:

- Provides clinical leadership and direction to inter-professional program staff, promoting quality and safe patient/client care and rehabilitation practices focused on the achievement of positive patient/client outcomes and recovery.
- Provides direction, coordination and leadership to all inter-professional staff by evaluation of patient/client care practice and services.
- Promotes positive work environments by role modeling professional behaviour, promoting teamwork and inter-professional collaboration.
- Promotes and maintains Psychological health and wellness/safety in the workplace.
- Promotes positive labour relations, responds to complaints and grievances and disciplines staff as appropriate.
- Directly manages the work assignments and scheduling for regulated and unregulated staff in a 24-hour operation, utilizing the appropriate balance of clinical care and security in the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu for both patients/clients and staff.
- Coordinates and manages inter-professional staff allocations ensuring optimum utilization based on monitoring and interpretation of workload measurement, RAI, SMART System data, inter-professional team patient contact data and other established practices.
- Engages in recruitment and retention activities.
- Manages performance against clearly stated performance expectations, conducts performance reviews including the development of learning plans; monitors compliance with mandatory education; authorizes attendance records, implements Hospital Attendance Support Program.
- Manages the overall program/unit budget.
- Liaises with internal programs/departments and external community partners.
- Participates in hospital committees and project work.
- Collaborates with the Program Director to support the hospital strategic directions.

**REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Bachelor’s degree in a health related field; Masters preferred
- Membership in a health care regulatory college or equivalent workplace experience
- Four to six years’ relevant experience with demonstrated leadership experience.
- Advanced knowledge in psychiatric clinical practice, team processes, security procedures, professional standards, research activities and current trends and approaches to treatment and rehabilitation of mental illness.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Management theory and project management as it applies to a program management model.
- Knowledge of Mental Health Act, Regulated Health Professions Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act, Health Care Consent Act, relevant sections of the Criminal Code of Canada, Collecti
