The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for ensuring accurate processing of hourly payroll, payroll reports, and assuring compliance with all applicable federal and provincial/state legislation in Canada, as well as adherence to company policies. The primary function is to be the payroll expert and execute payroll through Xerxes & Flexpipe’s payroll systems in Canada.
**DUTIES**:
Process two biweekly Hourly payrolls, accurately and in timely manner, including account reconciliations
Providing day-to-day support to employees and managers regarding payroll, including enrolment into payroll
Monitoring time data through time keeping software
Creating 3rd party and off-cycle payments (example: AHC, terminations)
Responsible for the daily maintenance, integrity and operations of payroll system and time keeping software
Administer Payroll policies and procedures
Ensure personnel files are complete and contain all relevant documentation with regards to wages, and emergency contacts
Liaise with various external stakeholders, such as, but not limited to, Ceridian, Canada Revenue Agency, Human Resources Development Canada, EFAP as well as internal supervisors/managers
Balancing tax remittances, Tax filing, Special government reporting, creating tax forms for employees and year-end filing in Canada and the US
Creating & updating HR/ payroll forms
Assisting other projects and duties as directed
**REQUIREMENTS**:
- 5-10 years’ experience in payroll
- PCP designation - preferred
- Minimum a high school education
- Familiarity with Ceridian, SuccessFactors software - preferred
- Solid understanding of federal and provincial legislation as it applies to payroll;
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication and problem solving skills
- Team-player mentality
- Ability to work independently in a highly confidential environment
- Ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities and a heavy workload
