Location: Edmonton, AB (Hybrid)
Salary: $70,000 – $78,000
We are seeking a Payroll Coordinator for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for approximately 600 employees across Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Yukon. You will ensure compliance with all provincial and federal regulations while maintaining precise payroll records and supporting related financial and reporting functions.
This role also provides critical data analysis and reporting support, contributing to process improvements and assisting with employee lifecycle events such as terminations and year-end filings.
What You Will Be Doing:
Payroll Processing
- Prepare, review, and process bi-weekly payroll for ~600 employees across multiple provinces.
- Maintain and update employee information in Dayforce (HRIS) and BST Enterprise (ERP).
- Import, validate, and reconcile payroll data including timesheets, benefits, deductions, and allowances.
- Perform payroll audits, identify discrepancies, and ensure corrections are completed promptly.
- Process benefits premium payments and conduct reconciliations.
- Work occasional weekends to meet payroll deadlines.
- Ensure payroll compliance with employment standards, taxation, and statutory regulations in Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan, and Yukon.
- Prepare and file year-end documents including T4s, WCB reports, and provincial filings.
- Support internal and external audits by providing payroll documentation as required.
- Prepare Records of Employment (ROEs) and finalize vacation and sick balance calculations.
- Process employee terminations in accordance with provincial standards.
- Collaborate with HR on onboarding and employee transitions to ensure payroll accuracy.
- Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll, deductions, and policies.
- Generate and analyze payroll-related data using Dayforce and Excel.
- Prepare payroll journal entries and ad hoc reports for HR, Finance, and leadership teams.
- Monitor payroll trends (e.g., overtime, benefit costs, turnover) to support business insights.
- Support enhancements to payroll processes and reporting tools.
- Recommend improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
- Minimum 4 years of payroll experience; multi-province experience preferred.
- PCP or CPM certification and/or post-secondary education in a related field an asset.
- Experience using HRIS payroll systems (Dayforce and BST experience preferred).
- Knowledge of Canadian payroll regulations and employment standards across Western Canada.
- Detail-oriented, accurate, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
