Alberta FNIGC is a not-for-profit, First Nations-owned organization. We promote, protect, and advance First Nations' Ownership, Control, Access, and Possession (OCAP®) principles, the inherent right to self-determination, and jurisdiction in research and information management. Our organization supports partnerships with our Nation members regarding free, prior, and informed consent to promote credible data owned by First Nation Peoples.
**What you might do in a day**- Verify data quality standards and funnel information to the Statistical Analysts;
- Support Statistical Analysts as they produce the final reports and other related data collection initiatives;
- Provide linkage to other First Nation information and data collection initiatives and other tasks
as required;
- Participate as a member of a national team of First Nations Regional Health Survey (FNRHS), the First Nations Regional Social Survcey (FNRSS), and other related data collection projects
- Attend meetings, maintain regular communications with national and regional coordinators, liaise with various federal departments, including FNIHB, ISC, Statistics Canada and their regional offices;
- Collect, synthesize, and disseminate information relevant to FNRHS, the FNRSS, and other related data collection projects;
- Serve as a point of contact within the Region on research, information, and data
collection initiatives;
- Prepare briefing notes, activity reports, and annual reports, and respond to correspondence as required.

- Outgoing, gregarious, well-spoken and persuasive; comfortable interfacing with high-level key stakeholders (Chiefs, Councils, Health Directors, other Nation administrators);
- Understand the inherent right of Indigenous Peoples to self-determination and jurisdiction in research and information management;
- Know the concepts of free, prior, and informed consent to promote credible data owned by Indigenous Peoples;
- Known for your negotiation skills and the uncanny ability to multitask and stay organized while managing several time-sensitive projects;
- Able to train Knowledge Gatherers in a clear, decisive, and engaging manner; and
- Are a solution-oriented and positive individual.
**And you have...**-
- A Bachelor's degree (Master’s preferred) related to social sciences, project management or research;
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel, Outlook, Teams and Word;
- A clear understanding of First Nations cultural sensitivities and worldviews as well as in-depth knowledge of Indigenous governance, culture, and languages; and
- A valid class 5 driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and the ability to spend several nights away from home while travelling to more remote nations.
