We seek excellent students, faculty, and staff to join us in what has become known as the "Western Experience" - an opportunity to contribute to a better world through the development of new knowledge, new abilities, new connections, and new ways to make a difference. **About Us**: **Responsibilities**: The Career Services Officer - Employer Specialist will identify and establish new relationships with key industry partners and employers in the areas of Civil, Biomedical, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Software and Artificial Intelligence engineering, in addition to information technology, communications, robotics and other targetted sectors. The role will be responsible to market Western Engineering’s undergraduate and graduate placement programs and maintain and steward current relationships. The role will enhance the best student experience while attaining Western Engineering's goal of increasing participation and placements in experiential learning opportunities, including the Undergraduate co-op programs (long-term and and Summer), the graduate co-op program and other experiential learning opportunties. The Career Services Officer - Employer Specialist will collaborate with Career Services Officers on the team to assist students and increase awareness of available support, and to plan and coordinate various related events and reporting as required. **Qualifications**: **Education**: - Undergraduate Degree in Business, Management Studies or related program **Experience**: - 3 years experience in an academic setting liaising and building strong relationships with industry - Proven sales, marketing, and/or public relations experience with selling a program, product or concept - Human Resources or career counselling experience, specifically in relation to recruiting highly qualified personnel and providing comprehensive career and job search counselling, resume development and interview skills is preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Knowledge of industry with an ability to match their needs with needs of students - Familiarity with best practices for maintaining, seeking out and developing business relationships and partnerships with the ability to generate additional work placement opportunities - Specific knowledge related to increasing skills related to job seeking - Familiarity with Human Resources principles and practices - Ability to source leads, cold call and use other methods to connect with external partners - Ability to assess clients’ needs, suggest options, overcome objections, and move forward with partnerships - Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit - Compelling and persuasive communication skills to engage individuals and teams inside and outside the University - Ability to summarize information and disseminate to others effectively in a timely manner - Ability to establish rapport with people from diverse backgrounds - A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation and conflict resolution skills - Ability to work independently and exercise a high degree of initiative, innovation and good judgment in decision-making - Demonstrated strong leadership and team building skills (collaborating on projects, reaching consensus, keeping others informed) - Customer service skills (listening to determine needs and concerns, building trust, responding tactfully and in a helpful way, referring to others services as needed) - Strong communication skills - writing, speaking, presenting, listening, asserting, influencing - Excellent organizational and time management skills to anticipate, plan, balance multiple priorities in a dynamic environment - Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the Faculty’s events and activities - Must have own transportation with ability to travel to industry partners and employers; Valid Class G driver’s license required Familiarity with University policies and procedures preferred**Background Checks**: Please note, successful applicants will be required to produce a current, clean driving abstract prior to commencing employment. **Western Values Diversity**: **Please Note**: We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those chosen for an interview will be contacted.
