Western Continuing Studies (WCS) is the educational bridge between Western University and the global community. Through innovative leadership in lifelong learning, WCS creates and delivers responsive and accessible programs, including non-credit and credit courses in public interest, post-degree diplomas experiential learning, pre-degree programming and customized corporate training. In partnership with academic faculties, employers and professional associations, the unit reflects the academic mandate and vision of the University. **Responsibilities**:
The Career Services Officer provides career guidance and support to educate and motivate students and alumni to foster and action their career goals. The Career Services Officer develops and delivers a wide range of programs, tools, events, activities, and services to support experiential learning, career exploration and community engaged learning. The Career Services Officer contributes to the strategy and planning for career services in Western Continuing Studies to identify, attract, and involve students and employers, and faculty to integrate academic studies with work experience. The Career Services Officer maintains and develops relationships with industry and community partners and works to increase enhanced curriculum and successful outcomes for graduates.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- Undergraduate degree
- Certificate, Diploma, or professional designation related to Career Development or Human Resources

**Experience**:

- 3 years’ experience working in higher education coordinating programs and services for students
- Experience building and maintaining relationships with external organizations and community partners
- Experience with using technology to market services or products
- Previous work experience within a career advising role is preferred
- Previous Human Resources experience in relation to recruitment, providing comprehensive career and job search and networking advice, résumé development, personal branding and interview skills preferred
- Marketing/public relations experience with promoting a program, product, or concept is preferred

**MUST have a valid G Ontario Driver’s License and access to car.**

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Strong knowledge related to career advising and coaching theories and approaches
- Proven ability to interact professionally and build trusting relationships with students, staff, faculty, and members of the University community, industry and community partners
- Current knowledge of job market trends and occupations in information and media-related fields as well as graduate degrees and/or certifications available to students to meet their needs
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills and ability to effectively present information, and conduct training sessions and workshops on career and internship related topics that is engaging, using appropriate styles and tools
- Well-developed public speaking skills and experience facilitating group discussions
- Exceptional organizational skills, including managing multiple competing priorities and an ability to adapt quickly to emerging priorities
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development in career development with a desire to take on opportunities to increase knowledge and remain current on trends and methodologies
- Ability to work independently and exercise a high degree of initiative, innovation, and good judgment in decision-making
- Ability to ensure confidentiality and privacy is maintained through the appropriate retention and destruction of information
- Innovative and flexible critical thinking skills to adjust to and implement new processes or technology to meet the unit’s career services goals
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and maintain an organized and effective personal work environment in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to plan and collaborate on projects/events, reaching consensus, and keeping others informed
- Possess a reputation for resourcefulness with a strong sense of accountability and initiative
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite with an aptitude for evaluating and implementing technology systems to enhance service delivery to students Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy**Background Checks**:
