Duties:

- Enter new employees into payroll system
- Maintain records of employee attendance, leave, overtime to calculate pay and benefit entitlements using computerized system
- Prepare and check statements of earnings for employees, indicating gross and net salaries and deductions such as taxes, union dues, garnishments and insurance and pension plans
- Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies
- Prepare employee payments and benefits payments by cheque or electronic transfer
- Complete, check and process forms and documentation for administration of benefits such as pension plans, leaves, employment and medical insurance
- Prepare T4 statements and other statements
- Provide information to employees on payroll matters, benefit plans, and collective agreement provisions
- Collect statistical reports, statements and summaries related to pay and benefits accounts
- Prepare and balance period-end reports.

Skills and Qualifications:

- Ability to be organized with a strong eye for detail
- Excellent time management skills
- Outstanding accounting and reporting skills
- Strong communication skills, both orally and written
- Strong date processing skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Knowledge of Ceridian payroll system
- Ability to understand and interpret collective agreement

**Experience**:

- Minimum 3 years payroll experience, including reporting and preparation of required documentation ie source deductions, ROE, Pension Plan, Benefits and Union dues
- Experience with payroll for a unionized environment
- Ability to interpret and respond to collective agreement issues
- Familiarity with Ceridian payroll system
- Familiarity with non profit agency, an asset

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 per week

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Nanaimo, BC V9S 1M6

Expected start date: 2025-01-20
