**About the BHP Potash Business**:
In 2021, BHP approved a CA$7.5 billion investment in Jansen Stage 1 in Saskatchewan, Canada, which is aligned with our strategy of growing exposure to future facing commodities in world-class assets. The project is expected to produce 4.35 million tonnes of potash per year with initial production targeted for 2026, ramping up to full production over two years. Jansen potash project is located approximately 140 km southeast of Saskatoon. Potash opens a new front for growth and is an expandable resource that can support a century or more of operations. Potash provides BHP with greater diversification by commodity, country, and customer.

**Purpose**:
BHP’s Our Requirements for Community requires all our operated assets to implement actions to better understand communities, effectively plan and implement our commitments and evaluate and measure our performance. This standard outlines the mandatory minimum performance requirements for social research and studies, including social impact and opportunity assessments; human rights impact assessments; community perception surveys; engagement activities; and complaints and grievance mechanisms. The day-to-day implementation of the requirements is managed by Corporate Affairs team members across BHP.

The **Principal Corporate Affairs - Government Relations** is a member of the Corporate Affairs team, and reports to the Manager Corporate Affairs Potash based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This Principal will provide technical expertise to develop and execute Potash’s strategic stakeholder management strategies, plans and initiatives to fulfil BHP’s commitments and communicate and advocate, as required, to government stakeholders.

The Principal will play a key role in representing BHP in senior-level engagement with political and public policy stakeholders. They will provide strategic insight, regulatory research and analysis, and advice regarding Western Canadian related and externally driven issues. You will protect and improve BHP’s reputation through pro-active and relationship-based engagement with relevant government and community stakeholders and communicating Potash’s long-term social, environmental, and economic objectives.

Key accountabilities:

- Identifying, engaging, and managing a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Planning, tracking the delivery of and managing corporate affairs and stakeholder relations initiatives, activities, and projects that generate value and drive the achievement of project outcome
- Sourcing information, planning and conducting analyses to support evidence-based decision making in alignment with longer term business objectives
- Engaging the capabilities of the entire organization to fulfil BHP’s commitments and purpose
- Identifying and assessing risks, making risk informed decisions, using BHP's risk management framework, and building a risk aware culture to support safe and mutually beneficial performance outcomes

- Aligning decisions and strategies with long term business objectives and ensuring mutual benefit for stakeholders, while supporting the achievement of functional, operational, and organizational objectives
- Engaging in regular conversations and asks probing questions to deeply understand stakeholder needs, goals and challenges
- Clearly explaining approaches and expected results, extracting, and articulating relevant insights as key inputs to decision making
- Collaborating with key decision makers across the organization to implement changes that will drive results
- Participating in industry committees, associations, and chambers, as appropriate to analysis and influence regulatory, public policy and future legislation changes
- Developing and leveraging stakeholder relationships to deliver mutually beneficial outcomes/results that align with BHP Charter Values
