We are hiring a Communications Coordinator on a 12-month contract to fill a parental leave. This Communications Coordinator reports to the Communications Manager and is a key part of a talented three-person team. The hybrid work arrangement allows for both in-office and at-home days each week. The Communications Coordinator will also be the person behind (and occasionally in front of) the camera on our social media accounts, creating content that will inform, educate and delight our campus community and beyond. This role collaborates with libraries staff and student ambassadors to create videos, photos and online engagement opportunities for our audience both on - and off-campus. It means this is anything but a desk job, as content creation will take the Communications Coordinator to different spaces in our various libraries. Of course, there will be additional duties, as assigned, that will further complement the opportunities offered. Due to the nature of this position, some evening and weekend work, as well as local travel within the Hamilton area, may be required. **About McMaster University Libraries** McMaster University Libraries include four on-campus libraries, including Mills Memorial Library, H.G. Thode Library of Science and Engineering, the Health Sciences Library, and Innis Library. We’re passionate about delivering innovative services, supporting welcoming spaces and offering a wide variety of resources to support learning, teaching and research at McMaster University. **Key Responsibilities**: - Under the direction of the manager, research and produce content for websites, print materials, publications and other digital platforms and venues. - Conduct in-person and virtual interviews for content creation. - Develop original and custom communications which may include, but are not limited to, newsletters, reports, social media campaigns and website content. - Manage individual priorities within the framework established by the department and respond well to rapid change and a changing flow of assignments. - Remain current on upcoming events, institutional priorities and sensitivities to ensure all are reflected appropriately in our communications. - Update and maintain content on the libraries’ website and social media platforms. - Use design tools and multimedia solutions to generate meaningful and impactful digital content. - Consult with campus partners and collaborators regarding project requirements. - Co-ordinate and plan photo and video shoots. - Brand all internal and external projects ensuring that appropriate university visual identity guidelines are followed. - Provide branding, digital design, video production, photography, social media and content creation support. - Maintain the security and confidentiality of materials. - Work with internal and external partners and audiences on communications activities. - Provide technology support to team for issues with social media, digital design, photography both video and still images, and electronic management of resources following McMaster standards. - Participate, from time to time, in projects such as project teams and work teams. - Work at all events organized by the libraries’ communications and events office, and support however needed, from set-up to on-site communications. **Qualifications**: - Demonstrated good story sense and an ability to work with a variety of people, often to very tight deadlines - Proven understanding and experience utilizing social media platforms as part of integrated communi
