The Sudbury Co-Site Director, Internal Medicine, reports to the Program Director, Internal Medicine.
**Responsibilities**:
**Summary of Functions**:
The role of the Co-Site Director, Internal Medicine, will be to assist the Program Director, Internal Medicine, in achieving the following elements:
- Providing direction for all aspects of residency training including the selection, monitoring and evaluation of its learners, the planning, development and promotion of residency training and the maintenance and evaluation of relevant educational objectives of residency training consistent with the requirements and regulations of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (RCPSC) and with the mission and values of the NOSM University (NOSM U).
- Ensuring that learners are well prepared for practice in northern, rural and remote communities
- Ensuring effective coordination and collaboration of residency training across Northern Ontario and with other residency programs, the undergraduate program, electives programs and allied health professionals
- Ensuring timely faculty, preceptor, program and rotation evaluation, feedback and development
- Participating in overall program assessment and evaluation
- Preparing for and participating in internal and external reviews and accreditation
**Specific Responsibilities**:
Assists with and may have specific delegated authority for the following:
**Administration**
- With the assistance of the Program Director, the Regional Director, the Medical Clinical Teaching Unit (MCTU) Director, and the Postgraduate Office, works towards attaining full accreditation for the program
- Attends 75% of the Residency Program Committee meetings
- Attends all Internal Medicine case curriculum development retreats and other program reviews
- Serves as an interviewer for CaRMS both first and second iteration
- Assists with timely review and management of in training assessments of learners, preceptors and rotations
**Representation**
- Collaborates with the Program Director, Internal Medicine, and community representatives to ensure appropriate use of community resources such that learners from all programs are integrated in a suitable manner
- Contributes to the recruitment and development of clinical academic sites across Northern Ontario
- Liaises with learners from NOSM U and other medical schools completing undergraduate, postgraduate elective and core rotations within the community
- Assists in identifying and securing resources required for the delivery of the curriculum at the clinical academic sites
- maintains regular communication with clinical teachers
- Works with the NOSM U Continuing Education and Professional Development unit to ensure adequate preparation of clinical teachers
- Assists with ensuring the provision of safe learning/teaching, research and clinical environments for learners, staff and faculty
**Qualifications**:
**Education**:
- Doctor of Medicine degree
- Possession of a current license to practice medicine in the province of Ontario
- RCPSC certification (or equivalent as determined by the Associate Dean, Postgraduate Medical Education)
- An academic appointment with NOSM University
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:
- Several years of proven involvement in postgraduate education
- Experience in the administration of postgraduate residency programs an asset
**Language**:
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbally, written and comprehension)
- French/Indigenous language skills would be considered asset
**Remuneration**:
- As per the stipendiary faculty remuneration process
**Time Commitment**:
- One-half (0.5) day per week
