Phoenix Youth Programs is a non-profit, community-based organization located in K’jipuktuk/Halifax, Nova Scotia. **Program Overview**: The Phoenix Learning and Employment Centre (PLEC) offers education and employment support for youth aged 16-24. PLEC provides the opportunity to engage in the exploration of education and career development through individualized support, readiness programs, supporting the ability to access education funding, work placements, and wage subsidies.

The Phoenix Learning and Employment Centre is located on the second floor of the Quinpool Centre. It is accessible by elevator and stairs. Once inside the space, there are two gender neutral washrooms, a shared kitchen space, and two common areas that are available to youth and staff. We aim to have resources - be it posters, books, or desktop computers - throughout for all to explore and utilize.

**Compensation**:**Annual salary of $52,328 (prorated for the term), comprehensive cost-shared group medical insurance plan, Employee and Family Assistance Program, 3% Employer paid RRSP contribution, three weeks of vacation in the first year and four weeks of vacation in the second year, three weeks of paid sick/wellness leave, a generous paid holiday schedule, in-house trainings, and professional development opportunities.

**Hours of Work**: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8:30a.m. - 4:30p.m., with some flexibility for occasional evening work.

**Location**: 6169 Quinpool Rd., Suite 220, Halifax, Nova Scotia.

**Reports to**: Manager, Phoenix Learning and Employment Centre (PLEC)

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Ensure the program delivery is congruent with Phoenix’s mission, vision, and values.
- Work in accordance with Phoenix’s policies, procedures, and philosophy of practice.
- Support the day-to-day operations of PLEC, including contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment. Regularly engaging in case conferencing with other PLEC team members.
- Over the course of the contract, support 24 participants (12 per year), in the Employment Connections Program (ECP). This support includes providing individualized case management to participants, community outreach, placement sourcing and job coaching activities.
- Recruit youth to the program, support them through a job search process and provide pre-employability readiness training either individually or in small groups.
- Monitor participant placement progress via regular check-ins with youth and placement supervisors.
- Provide individualized case management support to youth accessing PLEC as they work towards employment goals.
- Assess youth readiness and for positive engagement with their employment.
- Create individualized support plans with youth that work towards identified goals in a collaborative manner
- Work in conjunction with other Phoenix team members to provide wrap-around support for youth and coordinate placement strategies.
- Work collaboratively with other Phoenix programs to offer effective youth-centered life skill and employability programming including outreach and developing/facilitating workshops.
- Identify and recruit experience placements with the goal of matching youth with placements for short-term paid experience placements, (_in tandem with other PLEC programs_).
- Inform placements about the benefits of PLEC programs through various communication methods developed in conjunction with the PLEC’s Employer Engagement role.
- Actively engage and participate in internal Phoenix committees, projects, and activities and required.
- Support the onboarding and training of new staff and volunteers.
