**How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team**:
The Assistant Supervisor, Construction Projects provides assistance to Supervisors and support and guidance to Site Supervisors ensuring compliance with design specifications and approvals for construction projects and addressing issues associated with project logistics, contractor resourcing, project scheduling and overall project implementation.
**Major Responsibilities**:

- Supports Supervisors with various components of construction administration and provides guidance to Site Supervisors at the site level construction projects.
- Provides guidance to the Site Supervisors with the coordination and management of daily operations to adhere to project schedules and cost estimates, providing senior technical expertise. This includes reviewing and providing feedback on construction phasing, heavy equipment requirements, access routes and staging areas, inspection of completed sections of the project while highlighting any deficiencies and commenting on overall appearance of the project work site.
- Supports and assists Supervisors with various components of construction administration including the preparation of estimates, material take-offs and construction sequencing/scheduling plans and ordering materials and equipment from suppliers.
- Provides project updates to Construction Supervisors while highlighting any project discrepancies, risks and providing recommendations to resolve any on-going challenges.
- Supports and reviews daily work reports for assigned projects and prepares summary reports for management as required.
- Ensures all health and safety documents, inspections, hazard assessments, training are completed in the appropriate timeframe.
- Responsible for supporting and assisting Supervisor with assigned construction project(s) and set resources to complete an objective/create betterment within the organization
- Assists with onboarding and provides on the job training and support as needed for individuals they oversee.
- Ensures staff/volunteers/contractors, as applicable, comply with health & safety policies, and other TRCA policies, as applicable in various work environments.
- In absence of Site Supervisor or Supervisor, coordinates daily work TRCA project site(s) and/or provides leadership throughout full project lifecycle of assigned construction projects.

**What will you need to succeed**:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Resources/Environmental/Construction Management or a related field or equivalent experience
- Valid Ontario Class G2 driver's license

Experience
- 4+ years of experience providing project management for construction or restoration environment

Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies
- Ability to interpret design drawings, undertake quantity takeoffs general site surveying/leveling and construction layout
- Demonstrated experience in the construction of valley and stream protection and restoration projects such as bank/slope stabilization, bridge/trail construction and infrastructure protection
- Ability to use critical thinking to evaluate problems, gather information, understand causes, and identify best possible solutions
- Knowledge of best management practices, and up-to-date knowledge of mitigation and controls, as well as safe work procedures
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member to coach staff and work with stakeholders (internally and externally) and negotiate project variance/timelines; ability to deal tactfully and courteously with stakeholders, public officials
- Proficiency in MS Office suite including online software such as MS teams, WebEx, ArcMap and SharePoint), including strong GPS/GIS experience
- Strong budget management and cost control skills; able to address variances and manage ongoing risks while managing multiple deadlines / work processes.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, related Regulations and legislation.
