Quality Assurance Manager

We are a local food company located in Scarborough that specializes in quick Grab n’ Go, and prepared meals for busy professionals while also putting an emphasis on health and nutrition. Over the last 10 years, we have been focusing on developing HMR (Home Meal Replacement) with the same philosophies. With the current COVID-19 pandemic, we observed how much pressure was placed on food providers for education institutions, and we feel obligated to share our expertise to help more people in need. Here are some key features as to how we can serve our community:
- 30,000 square foot provincially-inspected, HACCP-compliant facility with production power of 120000+
- Diligently served market store and warehouse store chains for over three years.
- Leading a cold-chain logistic team to provide services across the entire Ontario if needed.
**Major Responsibilities**:
- Monitoring and maintaining all aspects of our Enhanced Food Safety Program and its related documentation
- Inspecting the plant floor at regular intervals during every shift to ensure all food safety-related policies and procedures are being followed completely and correctly
- Conducting on-site verification of daily paperwork and reporting any deviations to management
- Verifying sanitation and cleaning process - not limited to equipment, and housekeeping. Any deviations must be recorded and communicated to management
- Implementing and auditing any corrective action for any reported or potential food safety issues
- Inspecting incoming materials for compliance with SHFG specifications and SHFG Food safety criteria
- Participating in the investigation of customer complaints and implementing corrective action where necessary
- Conducting regular food safety coach and counsel sessions with SHFG staff and ensuring staff training is up-to-date; escalating performance concerns with appropriate documentation (i.e. disciplinary letter)
- Verifying various aspects of the prerequisite program, and HACCP plan
- Performing environmental swabbing as per schedule. Recording and interpreting the testing results
- Participating in GMP and facility inspection audits to ensure compliance
- Completing performance assessments in conjunction with the departmental manager
- Accountable for standards of food safety, cleanliness, productivity, uniform, grooming, organization, food quality, and consistency; escalating violations with appropriate warnings/disciplinary action
- Participating in and contribute to Management and Team Leader meetings
- Preparing monthly food safety status reports and submitting them to Food Safety Manager
- Working in a safe manner and ensuring all production staff adhere to safety standards, policies, and procedures, and enforcing through counseling, guidance, and corrective action
- Working as a team and developing internal communication with the department
- Conducting pre-shifts and post-shifts, and recording in the Daily GMPs logs
- Calibrating equipment on weekly basis and ensure. Verifying the sanitizer concentrations on a regular basis
- Performing other QA/QC functions as directed by FSQA Manager
- Other duties as required
**Position Requirements**:
- Must speaking Mandarin, Fluent in English and Chinese
- Must be comfortable and able to work in a temperature-controlled environment (2 to 4 degrees Celsius)
- Food Safety, GMP, and HACCP training is an asset
- Must possess a degree, diploma, or certificate in a Food Safety or related programs
- Must-have availability for a rotational work schedule of either morning or afternoon shifts (weekdays and weekends)
- Hours may vary.
