Electronic Technician

Northern Security is an innovative, customer-oriented leader in locksmithing, key cutting and security solutions. As we continue to grow and expand our operations, we are looking for a conscientious and customer focused Electronic Technician to join our Sudbury team.
**Position Details**
- Perform daytime and after-hours service calls and site visits
- Install new or replacement hardware on-site
- Install, service, and repair automatic door operators and sliding doors
- Install electric strikes on existing or replacement frames
- Install, service, and repair card access control systems
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot computer networking systems
- Install, program, test, repair, and service a variety of security devices, equipment, and smart home solutions including contacts, window breaks, motion detectors, card readers, video systems, digital cameras, NVR units etc., to provide integrated systems including, card access control, CCTV systems, intercom systems, perimeter protection, and intrusion alarms.
- Install, maintain and troubleshoot cable connections
- Perform locksmithing duties such as: picking locks, removing broken keys, re-keying locks to new or existing keys, and cutting various types of keys and high security keys.
- Calibrate, adjust and clean shop and truck key machines
- Collaborate with the service coordinator, shipping department, and shop technicians to organize and prepare for site visits.
- Maintain a clean and hazard free worksite
- Provide technical support to customers and coworkers
- Educate customers on new and existing products/services
- Create, update and maintain service orders and customer records as per Company policy.
- Coordinate with administrative staff and other departments for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently and according to specifications.
- Communicate the status of existing work orders to customers, relevant departments and team members.
- Maintain vehicle inventory, cleanliness and preventative maintenance
- Perform daily vehicle inspections
- Support storefront staff as required
- Open/close/lock-up store front as required
- Participate in year end inventory count
- Adhere to Company policies and procedures at all times
- Maintain confidentiality
- Other duties as assigned
**Skills, Qualifications and other Requirements**:
- Valid G class driver's license with a clean driver's abstract and clean criminal record.
- Strong technical background
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience using CRM (Customer Relationship Management) or FSM (Field Service Management) software considered an asset.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Good decision-making skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Problem-solving and research skills
- Ability to work with little supervision
- The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Mixture of driving, sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, working overhead, etc.
- Available to work 40 hours per week with the ability to work overtime hours
**Experience**:
- Electrical: 2 years (preferred)
- Card Access Controls: 2 years (preferred)
- Alarm Installation: 2 years (preferred)
- Network Cabling Experience: 1 year (preferred)
**License/Certification**:
- Class G License (required)
