I am not going to state all the equipment we have or all that we do. What you really need to know is that we are a general practice that stresses preventative care and quality of life for dogs and cats. We take time with our clients, get to know them and their pets and pride ourselves in being a “family vet.”
The practice has grown. The time has come to add another vet to our team. Not just any vet, but one that has the same ideas and goals. It is all about team fit. The only way to see if another person is the right fit is to sit down and talk and to work a few shifts together to make sure that we would all be happy working with each other
When we opened this practice in 2010, we set ground rules
- no weekends, no on-call, limited evenings, take off the stat/provincial holidays, take regular family holidays and most importantly close the hospital between Christmas and New Year. Everyone needs a break and on holidays sick pets need to go the emergency hospital.
Burnt out vets and staff are of no use to anyone
I work with a small team of wonderful supportive, genuinely nice people. We sit down with our clients and have a real conversation, something that unfortunately, is rare these days. We know that if people understand why they need to do something for their pet, then they are much more likely to do it. I believe the key to veterinary medicine is education and trust. I have been part of this rural community since 1999 and I am very proud to say that many clients have been with me for over 20 years.
Everyone loves puppies and kittens, and so do we. But we love working with pets with chronic diseases, and palliative patients as we can help them enjoy life as pain/symptom free as possible. We also love the challenges of complex, second opinion cases, as they are so rewarding.
At Campbell Road Veterinary Services, we all like what we do, and like each other. No drama here Best of all we know we are making a difference to both pets and their families’ lives. Since we are not overworking, and we have time for our friends and family we all enjoy work and the workplace reflects that

Even our location is different, no strip mall for us The hospital is located on a farm, but we are only a short drive to Smiths Falls, Carleton Place, Kemptville, Perth and Ottawa. A nice quiet country setting, where you can look out the window and see horses, rather than traffic.
