To add to our expertise, we are recruiting for a Human Resource Manager for our Corporate Office located in Calgary, AB. The Human Resources Manager is a full-time, salaried management position. It is expected that the incumbent will demonstrate a high level of proficiency in the following key competency areas necessary to manage & oversee the daily operation of the CEL Human Resources Department.

**Key Responsibilities**

**1. Liaison between Employees and Management**
- Renewed focus on implementing and updating existing HR policies and manuals including overall responsibility for managing, filling, and updating all manuals, files, template and forms.
- Work with Sr. Management to effectively communicate and implement company wide changes to management and staff
- Maintaining and updating office procedures, employee files, policy manual, work agreements, and recommending changes where needed
- Work with managers and staff to ensure HR policies and procedures are followed.
- Provide employee verification letters as requested.

**2. Staff Recruitment & Onboarding/Offboarding**
- Implementing and facilitating matters of HR such as recruitment, employee onboarding, offboarding. Including: Tracking information in On/Offboarding Shared Form, Drivers abstracts to insurance team, Safety credentials sent to safety department, Updating Years of Service (YOS) report, Creating Employee File or moving to Inactive Employee once offboarding is complete.
- Develop relationships with technical schools and other relevant organizations to actively recruit staff and promote CEL as an employer of choice.
- Quarterly check-ins with management to see if we can anticipate hiring/layoff needs.

**3. Support Benefits Plan, Apprenticeship, Training and Payroll**
- Responsible for the administration of the company benefit/pension plan, processing of claims, addition and/or termination of employees from pension plan and employee inquiries
- Addition and/or termination of employees from benefits plan
- Ensure confidentiality of all employee information is maintained.
- Support to payroll department as needed (vacation tracking)
- Apprentice Hours updates to provincial boards (hours sent to admin in ONT, MB for submitting)
- Apprentice Hours updates to provincial boards (BC)
- Identify potential training grants and opportunities for staff and CEL

**4. Company Culture and Staff Retention**
- Actively promote CEL as a great place to work and employer of choice
- Work with branch managers and safety department to promote company events, team building events and swag giveaways
- Work with Marketing department to update company portal with company news, projects and events on a monthly basis
- Coordinate with branches on Milestone Anniversary celebrations and recognition.
- Administration and assistance if needed, on employee performance reviews, performance goals, employee feedback, and employee development.
- Occasional travel to other CEL locations may be required from time to time but travel will be mínimal.

**5. Health and Safety**
- Have a though knowledge of CEL safety policies and procedures.
- Work hand in hand with CEL Safety Manager to promote a safe work environment and culture.
- Work hand in hand with the CEL Safety Manager to ensure employees receive appropriate safety training as required.

**Qualifications**
- 2-4 years of Human Resource Generalist experience, preferably in a mid-sized or high-volume organization.
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources or similar education required
- Experience with trades in the construction industry would be an asset
- CHRP Certification would be considered an asset but not a requirement
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Proficient with MS Office and ability to learn other software easily.
- Exceptional organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Works well under pressure and with tight deadlines, multiple priorities and meet deadlines with mínimal supervision.
