The Tŝilhqot’in National Government (TNG) seeks to hire a full-time **Curriculum Development Coordinator. **The **Curriculum Development Coordinator **will assist with planning, developing, implementing and revising the curriculum in keeping with changes in practice, legislation and regulation, as well as competencies required to meet delegation requirements when necessary.

The **Curriculum Development Coordinator **shall discharge responsibilities in accordance with sound educational and administrative practices, policies, guidelines and procedures.

The Tŝilhqot’in Nation is a world leader in advancing Indigenous title and rights, as demonstrated by the landmark Aboriginal Title Declaration from the Supreme Court of Canada in 2014. The Nation is implementing a ground-breaking tripartite framework agreement (Gwets’en Nilt’i Pathway Agreement) with the goal of transforming the fundamental relationship between the Tŝilhqot’in Nation and the Federal and Provincial Crown governments.

**Specific Roles and Responsibilities**

  • Assess and discuss curriculum standards with community leaders and representatives;
  • Together with the Education managers, collaborate and establish effective working relationships with teachers and school administrators;
  • Focus on implementing Tŝilhqot’in approaches that will immediately enhance the Nation’s education activities, coordination, program development, and students learning outcomes.
  • Ensure the Education Manager is informed of any problems related to curriculum content and identify issues and assist in developing strategies to solve issues;
  • Assist with planning, development, implementation and revision of curriculum;
  • Provide input in the evaluation of programs;
  • Conduct research and consult with key collaborators for the curriculum development process;
  • Prepare instructional material for printing and develop outlines with the necessary details to direct instruction;
  • Develop learning objectives and goals for each new curriculum and review learning objectives for the existing curriculum;
  • Identify resources required to develop and deliver new curriculums;
  • Prepare briefing notes, proposals, or reports as requested;
  • Perform other duties as required;
  • Other duties as required;

**Qualifications and Professional Competencies**

  • Bachelor’s or master's degree in education, instructional design, or curriculum;
  • Teaching license (strongly preferred);
  • Previous teaching experience (strongly preferred);
  • Strong computer skills;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Demonstrated progressive experience with Indigenous communities, organizations, etc;
  • Knowledge of the Tŝilhqot’in Nation culture and traditions;
  • Previous work experience in a First Nation-based organization;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
  • Valid BC Driver’s License, ability and willingness to travel to remote communities and travel to meetings outside of the region as required;
