Hamilton, Canada The Effort Trust Company Full time

The Effort Trust Company is currently looking for an Accounting Administrator at our office in Hamilton, Ontario. The Accounting Administrator will oversee all aspects of property administration for our portfolio.

**Main Duties**:

- Ensure the preparation of monthly bank reconciliation statement and circulation of monthly results to owners.
- Prepare and file HST returns.
- Process journal entries and perform general ledger account reconciliations.
- Oversee the Month End and Year End accounting process for assigned portfolio.
- Prepare and reconcile common area maintenance cost and property tax apportionment for tenants.
- Process receipts of payments, cheque deposits, rent charges, etc.
- Set up and maintain leases for our tenants.
- Monitor account receivables and follow up with our tenants.
- Monitor the budgets in assigned properties, investigate significant variances between budget and actual costs, follow up with stakeholders like Property Managers to explain variances and escalate exceptions to management.
- Participate in the preparation and analysis of financial reports.
- Participate in year end, interim or ad-hoc audits by attending to audit enquiries and requests.
- All other duties as assigned.

**Other Duties**:
In addition to the duties above, the accounting administrator will:

- Participate in special projects related to, but not limited to, the roll out of software upgrades and new software modules.
- Bring forward ideas for process improvements that will enhance operational efficiency.
- Work closely with the Residential Management Team to ensure their needs are met with respect to the assigned portfolio.

**Qualifications**:

- A bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
- Considerable experience in property accounts administration.
- CPA designation (or working towards it).
- Proven problem-solving capabilities.
- Above average excel skills with an ability to develop dashboard reporting for KPI’s specific to the multi-residential industry.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with senior management as well as property managers and team members.
- Strong analytical and time management skills.
