Every team member is trained in a wide variety of tasks. From customer service to receiving deliveries, food preparation to stocking shelves and cleaning, every team member does a mix of front-of-house and back-of-house tasks. Everyone including the boss mops the floor. We’re a small and versatile team of people who support one another.

As **assistant manager**, your responsibilities include:

- Supervising teammates to accomplish all daily tasks and occasional projects
- Ensuring customers have a great experience in store and online
- Packing online orders
- Driving the delivery vehicle
- Receiving deliveries, stocking shelves and bulk stocking
- Providing product advice to customers
- Handling cash and processing transactions in the point-of-sale system
- Preparing fresh produce for optimal freshness
- Communicating with vendors to ensure smooth deliveries and product quality
- Placing purchase orders. handling credits & returns with vendors

**Job details**:

- $23.30/hour (living wage +$2), Minimum 20 hours per week
- Morning, evening, and weekend availability is a must
- Shifts are scheduled well in advance, one month at a time
- 1-year contract starting September 2025 with possibility of extension
- 1 week paid sick leave per year + other job-protected leave policies
- 3 weeks paid vacation per year
- 15% reimbursement for GRT transit pass
- COVID-19 / Public health measures:

- Masks provided during high levels of respiratory viruses
- HEPA+UV filter at cash register
- MERV-13 filters in HVAC system
- Regular sanitation of high-touch surfaces
- Online ordering options for customers

**Our ideal applicant will have the following characteristics**:

- Ability to effectively manage day-to-day workloads and prioritize tasks for a team of 2-3 staff
- Full G Driver’s license required to assist with deliveries
- You are attentive; enjoy problem-solving and thinking on your feet
- You can maintain a calm and professional environment, even in stressful situations
- Excellent attendance record
- Ability to work on your feet for 7 hours
- Lifting heavy boxes and bags up to 50lb / 25kg
- Passion for food, community, and environmental justice
- Interest in working among a diversity of people, including people from different socioeconomic backgrounds, cultures & gender identities
- Food handling certificate is an asset
- Retail management experience is an asset

**Job Types**: Part-time, Contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $23.30 per hour
