**Position Title**
Purchasing Assistant (1 Year Contract)
**Position Summary**
The Purchasing Assistant will provide day-to-day administrative support to the purchasing team.
Location: Burnaby, BC
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Reporting to: Manager, Purchasing
**Essential Functions**
- Purchase for manufacturing components and materials based on inventory level, target, and demand.
- Coordinate with customs and freight forwarders to ensure on-time in full shipping.
- Collaborate with the IBC warehouse team to reconcile inbound/outbound deliveries.
- Assist in the MRP evaluation process and monitor inventory level.
- Coordinate with AP to reconcile supplier invoices.
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure on-time in full delivery, product availability, and quality standards are met.
- Coordinate with custom brokers to prepare documentation required for port clearance.
- Create POs and track them through the in-transit process.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
**Education**:
- Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Commerce, Science, or a related field is required, preferably with a concentration in Supply Chain Management.
Work Experience:
- 1+ years of experience working in an administrative assistant function is required.
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing or distribution environment is desirable.
- Previous experience working with freight forwarders and customs brokers is desirable.
- Previous experience working with MRP-driven ERP. Experience with Oracle or SAP is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to work with a great amount of detail and audit against errors.
- Ability to plan and organize projects and tasks to meet deadlines.
- Working knowledge of process maps and flowcharts.
- Possess a process-driven mindset.
- Intermediate working knowledge of excel, specifically Pivot Table and VLookUp.
- Ability to communicate concisely and clearly through both written and verbal means.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
