**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
ABC Recycling Ltd. is seeking a Purchasing Agent to be based out of our head office in Burnaby, B.C. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, with a dotted line to General Manager, Corporate Operations, the job holder will be responsible for processing procurement transactions and purchasing reviews. This role will be required to conduct purchasing, purchasing reviews and procurement requests from various departments and locations, process purchase requisitions, and maintain a computerized inventory and purchasing system to ensure all contract details are correct and up to date.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Source and procure materials, services, supplies, and other commodities as required by the business at the best possible quality and price
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining relationships with vendors
- Resolves any issues with suppliers and deliveries
- Negotiates delivery requirements, and quantities with suppliers
- Stays in touch with third parties to ensure supplies and equipment are correct and available on time
- Under the direction of the purchaser of the service and goods or Management, review responses to competitive bids by recording and summarizing responses and present initial data analysis to purchaser of service and goods or Management for review and approval
- Resolves invoice and receiving discrepancies by researching discrepancies, liaising with customer & receiving personnel, communicates changes to internal/external clients, updates system files, processes product return/substitution documentation, and traces shipments as required to maintain system efficiency
- Maintains data integrity across supply chain files and information systems in accordance with established policies and procedures by entering any new items and contracts as well as any changes including but not limited to supplier information, product information, product codes, units of measure, descriptions or prices as directed by the purchaser of the service or goods or Management
- Manages purchase orders from the time it is entered to the time the product is received completely
- Communicates regularly with operations to ensure inventory levels are manageable and advise of any large incoming shipments
- Coordinates supplier meetings which occur every month to every quarter (depending on supplier)
- Other duties as required

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Post-secondary education with a focus on business administration, accounting, or a related discipline combined with experience in purchasing and proposal evaluation
- Experience with Microsoft Programs (specifically Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
- Prior experience using an ERP/SAP is a strong asset
- Possess strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyze and interpret high volumes of data
- Takes initiative to make improvements and communicate change
- Works well with others and can drive towards individual and shared team goals
- Assertive and direct when necessary
