We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Disability Specialist to join our People team in Langley, BC.

Reporting to the Manager, Disability, you will be responsible for directing workplace activities associated with disability management including acting as a liaison with all stakeholders, being a supporter for ill/injured employees, and the catalyst for reintegrating team members back into the workplace.

You will be responsible for:
- Finding creative solutions to modify job duties, shifts or hours of work within the limitations and restrictions of injured workers, up to the point of undue hardship.- Gathering medical and/or supporting documentation detailing factual limitations or restrictions and writing detailed letters to medical professionals, religious leaders, care, or treatment providers to gain clarity when required.- Collaborating with union representatives and management to craft accommodations based on medical, religious, or family status under the applicable provincial human rights legislation.- Working with union and non-union managers and team members to explore duties/roles that require an accommodation.- Consulting with external partners such as WorksafeBC, WCB or third-party insurance providers, or internal partners such as labour relations, health & safety, and claims departments, etc. as required.- Responding to safety sensitive situations involving medical conditions, substance abuse, and mental health.- Advising managers on removing team members from the workplace and following up with key internal partners and/or consulting with medical professionals, legal counsel or union if required.-
- Managing accommodation documents and ensuring accurate and concise file notes - ensuring accommodation agreements are current and updated as required.- Developing material and providing annual accommodation training to retail management teams.

You have:
- A post-secondary diploma in Administrative Support Services, Disability Management, or a related field.- Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) designation preferred.- 5+ years of Claims and Disability Management experience with programs such as short
- and long-term disability, Workers Compensation as well as working knowledge of Human Rights legislations, WorksafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, Workers Compensation Act ideally within a retail and/or unionized environment.- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with MS Office, HRIS systems and Claims Management systems.- Experience dealing with emotionally charged, confrontational and obstinate team members.- Experience interpreting and evaluating medical reporting on facts and conversation.- Experience resolving grievances or disagreements, up to the point of undue hardship.

$79,950.00 - $99,938.00

The compensation offered for this position will take into consideration location, education, skills, experience, and other factors.
