**Title**: YouthLink Police School Facilitator

**Position Profile**:
Reporting to the YouthLink Calgary Police Service Lead, the Police School Facilitator will be responsible for the delivery of our four-day, grade six Police School program, along side the YouthLink officers. On weeks where Police School programs are not scheduled, they will be responsible for completing the registration and administration tasks for Police School and will be trained to deliver additional school programming focused on numerous topics including policing, crime prevention, and cyber safety. The Police School Facilitator must have exceptional front-line, interpersonal communication skills and experience with facilitation and program delivery to a variety of audiences, specifically with youth.

**Responsibilities**:

- The Police School Facilitator must ensure that program participants have an experience that is engaging, fun, but also meaningful.
- Lead hands-on activities, workshops and presentations for youth participants, providing engaging experiences focused on crime prevention and the role of Calgary Police in the community.
- The facilitator will need to be able to maintain a safe teaching and learning environment for youth and respond to participants around sensitive issues, as well as connect them with relevant supports and resources in Calgary Police Services (CPS) and in the community.
- Adapt and customize the content and delivery of programming to meet the needs of various audiences, including school groups and the general public.
- Responsible for understanding, providing feedback and helping improve programs and their delivery. They will be responsible for collecting participation data and supporting program evaluation.
- Assist in scheduling of special CPS guest presenters for Police School, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and maintain positive relationship with CPS units and personnel.
- On weeks when Police School programs are not running, this role will be responsible for the administrative and registration tasks associated with Police School. This includes:

- Prompt and professional communication with teachers, sending registration information and communicating about preparing for their Police School experience.
- Scheduling busses for all Police School groups.
- Arranging post school program visits with YouthLink officers.
- Preparing and printing program materials and organizing the learning spaces.
- Model high performance, flexibility, and kindness in a rapidly changing growth environment.
- As a front-line staff member, the facilitator must be prepared to collaborate with other departments, such as curriculum developers, public programming, and events etc, to assist with program delivery.
- Curriculum and admin support during the summer months, which would include adaptions and revisions to the current Police School Programming and ensuring summer programing runs smoothly.

**Qualifications**:

- A minimum of two (2) years of work experience in public-facing communication and facilitation for diverse audiences, including children, youth, and adults. This may include leading tours, workshops, and other formal/informal educational delivery.
- Post-secondary education in Education, Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, Human Services, or Social Work or in a synonymous field.
- A keen interest to work with youth in a non-traditional educational setting. Previous work with vulnerable youth would be considered a strong asset.
- Passionate about youth education and enjoy working with children on a daily basis.
- Public speaking and presenting experience (2 years).
- Comfortable working with a wide variety of program participants of various ages.
- Strong interpersonal skills: effective communication (verbal and written); non-judgmental listening skills; ability to deal with people from diverse backgrounds and identities; must be able to work as part of a team; must show initiative.
- Ability to organize people and activities and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, volunteers, school groups etc.
- Time management and problem-solving skills: Must be able to adapt and solve problems/make decisions as they arise, whether with colleagues or visiting school groups and teachers.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR or willingness to become certified.

**Additional Information**:

- A CPS enhanced security clearance will be conducted for this position.
- This is an hourly position working around 35 hours a week, from Monday to Fridays. The person in this position may be asked to work weekends and evenings on occasion and may be asked to attend external presentations and events.

Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
