**Position Overview**
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing a full range of confidential and professional HR support services to the Fresh Start Foods West leadership team as well as answering general employee inquiries to support the company’s mission and reinforce the culture and values through the selection, retention, and development of the best people. This position reports to Senior Manager, Human Resources.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
Provide guidance, explanation, and assistance to employees for HR functions including but not limited to, benefits, payroll, compensation, performance review, policy, and procedures, etc.;
- Collaborate with an HR team and ensure that the department is maintained;
- Work with employees and management to understand business needs and maintain effective employee relations amongst all employees in our two plant locations (one in Richmond and one in Calgary);
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day administration of Human Resources including attendance management, new hire orientation and onboarding, employee retention and engagement, compensation and benefits, HR team management, etc.;
- Up to date with current employment legislation changes and is able to align company practices to ensure compliance;
- Responsible for biweekly payroll processing using Workday and Kronos;
- Formulate Health and Safety initiatives to raise awareness and reduce claims;
- Identify and lead HR initiatives that will improve employees’ overall experience.
**Required Skills and Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree or diploma/certificate in Human Resources Management.
- 2+ years experience in a Human Resources role or a similar role within a Human Resources environment.
- CPHR designation is an asset.
- Work experience in recruitment is preferred.
- Ability to build relationships and interact effectively with all levels and departments within the organization.
- Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail.
- Knowledge of the Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Worker
**Compensation Act, and other legislative requirements in BC.**
- Good working knowledge of human resources information systems, payroll, and time and attendance management systems
- A second language is an asset. (Tagalog, Punjabi, Cantonese or Mandarin)
