Position Overview:
Reporting to the Community Outreach Lead, this position delivers housing-focused, assertive street outreach to youth and adults experiencing homelessness, at risk of homelessness, or living in poverty. The ReConnect Outreach Worker provides a range of services to decrease barriers to obtaining and maintaining appropriate housing. This includes assessment, service planning, skills development, resource identification, and follow-up, all while upholding the YMCA Mission, Vision, Core Values, and Developmental Asset Philosophy.
**Duties**:
- Responsible for practicing assertive street outreach and in-reach within the Greater Moncton Area. The ReConnect Outreach Worker is expected to meet people outside, making exposure to the weather an expectation of the position.
- Uses a psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery approach to engage clients in a process of determining their needs and readiness for change.
- Support clients in identifying and achieving their goals by teaching essential life skills needed for success.
- In some cases, accompany clients to shelters, appointments, or other safe places.
- Advocate for individuals to access necessary services, including healthcare and financial supports.
- Make necessary referrals, as required (e.g., Income Assistance, NB Housing, mental health services).
- Engage in crisis prevention and intervention with clients.
- Build relationships and network with diverse stakeholders, including local councils, community organizations, government agencies, and non-profits to mobilize resources and support for clients.
- Provide leadership in fundraising and resource development activities to support departmental goals.
- Maintain and build positive community relations with key partners, including the City of Moncton, Social Development, DMCI (Downtown Moncton / Centre-ville Inc.), the RCMP, and others.
Skills & Qualifications:
- A criminal record check and vulnerable sector check are required as a condition of employment.
- Valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience and a clean driver’s abstract with access to a vehicle full-time.
- Standard First Aid and Basic Rescuer CPR certification.
- Able to work flexible hours.
- Bilingualism is an asset.
- Completion of a college or university program in Social Services, Community Support, Human Services, or a related field; relevant lived experience is also valued.

Pay: $40,000.00-$43,000.00 per year
