Bring your excellent analytical and research skills to our team as a Data & Reporting Analyst within our Office of the Registrar (OTR) department.
The OTR department ensures that the College meets its mandate of patient protection and putting patients first in all the work that we do. They set the College’s strategic priorities, and oversee our regulatory functions and compliance, as well as operations. OTR maintains various stakeholder relationships, including working with the College’s Council, committees, and government relations.
You will be responsible for providing assistance to support initiatives that will promote and inform the use of data captured by the College for operational and strategic priorities.
You are an experienced individual who is detail-oriented and researched focused with strong analytical skills.
What can I expect to do in this role?
**Reporting to the Data Scientist, you will**:
- Work with departments to identify data issues related to entry, quality and extraction
- Identify and define departmental reporting needs
- Develop and define metadata documentation within enterprise and non-enterprise systems
- Analyze small and large datasets to provide descriptive and univariate analysis with potential to develop and present results via slide decks
- Summarize findings when reviewing publicly accessible organizational documentation such as annual reports, online stats or internal analyses
- Review and summarize analytical results into reports, presentations and narratives/stories using data visualizations (e.g. charts, graphs, infographics)
- Provide training for accessing, updating and using data within Microsoft Excel as requested
- Document business processes to create visual process maps
- Conduct data quality analyses to verify the accuracy and reliability of data extracted from Enterprise systems
- Utilize project management and agile principles when overseeing and supporting projects
What skills and background do I need?
**The Data & Reporting Analyst requires**:
- Undergraduate or associate degree in a related field or a combination of education and relevant experience
- Three to five years of understanding and coding experience with statistical programming languages or those with statistical and data frame packages for the purpose of statistics, data cleaning and report generation; examples include statistical analysis, database manipulation and report generations such as R, Python, SAS, Stata, SPSS, etc.
- Willingness and ability to transition to another programming language (specifically R)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Strong ability to convey complex problems to a wide range of stakeholders and knowledge levels
- Experience presenting findings to department or within the organization; experience presenting at conferences an asset
- Flexible, adaptable and a demonstrated commitment to learn new skills, software and knowledge domains
- Proven organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities to meet deadlines
- Basic coding experience with Microsoft SQL Server (or other programs using SQL) to join and refine tables for future analytics
- Experience with gathering requirements from external stakeholders related to data request lifecycle including concepts related to intake communication and analysis, requirements gathering, request analysis, de-identification, report generation and secured data transfer)
- Understanding dataset and database relationships (akin to data architecture) an asset
- Develop and define metadata documentation within Enterprise and non-enterprise systems an asset
- RCDSO is building its bilingual (French/English) capacity and excellent French language proficiency is required/an asset
Compensation and Total Rewards
- Base annual hiring salary from $89,573 to $100,769, commensurate with experience
