**Human Resources Specialist**

**Position Summary**

Alberta Classical Academy requires the services of an experienced, full-time (1.0 FTE) Human Resources Specialist at the central office. This probationary position will commence on a mutually agreed hire date or as soon as possible.

Reporting directly to the Office of the Superintendent and members of the Executive Team, the Human Resources Specialist will provide expertise and high-quality leadership and guidance in the delivery of Human Resources services and initiatives across the organization.

The Human Resources Specialist works with educational leaders and supervisors on matters related, but not limited to, employee recruitment and selection, onboarding and employment processing, teaching certificate issuance, employee training and development, benefits administration and claims management, employment records management, and employee relations, retention, and compliance.

Salary for this position is negotiable, with a full-time salary range of $65,000 - $80,000 CAD. The Organization

Opening its first campus in September 2022 with 294 students at the Bridgeland School in Calgary, Alberta Classical Academy is currently serving 1280 students on three campuses, two in Calgary (K - 9) and one in Edmonton (K-8). Growth plans will see ACA accommodate 1600 students in 2025-2026 and growth to over 2000 students in grades K to 12 for the 2027-2028 school year.

**Core Functions and Responsibilities**
- Support of campus personnel in the ongoing recruitment and management of substitute teachers;
- Assist and support employee onboarding and orientation;
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of employee professional development programs, platforms, and resources;
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive personnel records within the HRIS system;
- Assist with the development of HR policies and procedures;
- Support organization-wide compliance with policies, procedures and applicable regulations;
- Prepare formal HR-related correspondence (i.e. experience verifications, salary confirmations, leave of absence);
- Support benefit and pension administration, including enrollments, changes, and terminations;
- Assist employees with benefits-related inquiries and escalate complex issues as needed;
- Lead in the development and implementation of initiatives that promote employee wellness, and enhance organizational culture;
- Act as the initial point of contact for HR-related inquiries, and where directed, conduct thorough investigations and provide effective solutions to employee relations issues;
- Provide high-quality advice and service to educational leaders on daily employee relations and performance management issues;
- Conduct exit interviews and analyze feedback to identify trends and recommend improvements;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

**Alberta Education Responsibilities**
- Prepare and send annual School Authority Employment Submission;
- Support administration of Classical childcare program (e.g., Alberta childcare affordability grants and subsidies);
- Monitor and process teaching certificate issuance.
- Undergraduate degree in Human Resources,, or an undergraduate degree and a post-secondary diploma/certificate in Human Resources required;
- Professional Human Resources Designation ( or equivalent) or the ability to qualify for a designation is required;
- Minimum of 3-5 years of employment experience in Human Resources is required;
- Experience in the educational context and knowledge of ATRF pension requirements is an asset.
