**Job Duties**:
The EA/Regulatory Program Manager reports to the business area lead and works to achieve the strategic goals identified by the board. Responsibilities of this role include:
- **Project and Staff Management**:_
- Strive to support a positive, dynamic, and engaged team of environmental assessment (EA) and regulatory process professionals.
- Working alongside our Firelight Project Managers on multiple projects to execute scope/budget/schedule to meet client's expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
- Taking on direct Project Management roles on some Firelight EA/regulatory projects.
- Support research and community engagement delivery activities by Firelight EA/regulatory project teams.
- Support business development activities, initiatives, and programs.
- Build strong collaborative relationships with other EA Program Firelight employees.
- Coordinate daily allocation of project work to direct reports.
- Support Junior and Intermediate staff in their development at the organisation, including performance review and management.
- Work with the senior/intermediate EA program staff and Firelight senior management to identify potential research and contribute to operational improvements.
- Identify business development opportunities including innovative research methodologies or building client relationships.
- Draft project proposals, budgets, and scopes of work.
- Facilitation project initiation and deliverable completion processes with project managers.
- Delegating duties to staff regarding:
- Travel arrangements including booking flights, accommodations, rental cars, travel insurance, making sure travel safety protocols are met, and assisting finance team with travel expense reconciliations.
- Meetings and team events: including scheduling, booking meeting venues, setting up video calls, taking notes, travel arrangements, and identifying action items.
- Coordinate budgets, work plans, and research strategies for ongoing, proposed, and approved projects.
Information management:
- Ensure that methods used to manage, store and retrieve information in the EA/regulatory team are consistently applied, accessible and effective.
- Track and document personal hours and expenses.
Relationship building:
- Assist with Firelight internal and external communications.
- Maintain and build ongoing relations with community partners.
- Support completion of deliverables for diverse clients.
- Work with staff to develop and deliver curriculum for training programs relating to EA/regulatory skills and tools for Indigenous communities.
Travel:
- Willing to commit to travel regularly up to 6 days per month, not necessarily consecutively, sometimes in remote communities.
Other:
- Provide logístical support with coordination of projects and events.
- Support administrative duties, special projects, and other tasks as may be required.
**Qualifications**:
- Prefer for MA or MSc in a relevant field with a focus on environmental assessment, or relevant work experience.
- Proven experience in team and project management.
- 5 years or more experience in Environmental Assessment and/or Project Management
- Excellent writing, communication, organizational, computer and time management skills
- Experience working with indigenous communities
- Familiarity working with Provincial, Federal, and Territorial environmental assessment/regulatory regimes
**Required Skills**:
- Project management training with a preference for associated certification.
- Experience synthesizing and analyzing data using a variety of methods.
- Ability to work within a fast-paced environment that includes diverse interests, including Indigenous communities and their members.
- Strong attention to detail and highly proficient with information management systems and protocols.
- Familiarity with OCAP
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences such as existing and potential clients, funders, directors, associates, and internal staff.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Driver’s licence required.
