Summary
The Tool Room Operator prepares and repairs tools, as well as works closely with management on a number of tasks including inventory, quality assurance and machine set ups.

**Responsibilities**:

- Makes new tools and repairs existing tools.
- Liaises with machine operators to assess tooling and production machine problems in a timely fashion to maximize production.
- Requisite the necessary tools, punches, dies, pins etc. to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Maintain daily tooling report, and record “in & out” on the tooling file cards.
- Liaises with supervisor, administrative manager and plant manager to schedule production runs.
- Prepare the tooling for each work order and check the drawing and inspection reports for accuracy.
- Complete detailed yearend inventory to the satisfaction of the appointed auditor.
- Operate a variety of machines such as lathes, grinders, milling machine, honing machine, hydraulic press and hand tools to repair and make tools.
- Prepare and grind carbine reamers for making pointed dies and first blow forms for the heading process.
- Aid in machine set up or maintenance when necessary.
- Liaise with the supervisor and plant manager to resolve any problems with header operators, machinery or efficiency of the heading department.
- Check heading inspection reports and production reports for accuracy.
- Assist the QA department in determining root cause and corrective action resulting from customer complaints or defective parts.
- Comply with company policies and procedures.
- Support and follow internal health and safety programs and protocols.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.

**Qualifications**:

- Secondary school diploma or higher.
- 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing facility.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of headers and header tooling.
- Ability to read blueprints required.
