**External Communications and Media Relations Specialist (Temporary)**:

The External Communications and Media Relations Specialist is responsible for managing ABB’s brand reputation in Canada, by ensuring ABB’s identity is positioned strategically and the brand message is consistent, timely, and relevant. The person in this role will be responsible for elevating the image and reputation of ABB with compelling content and storytelling that resonates with key decisions makers, community leaders and customers in Canada while aligning with ABB’s global messages. He/She also serves as a resource for public relations and provides PR guidance and support for key industry markets. He/She will support as a spokesperson for the EL business in Canada managing relationships with trade media, traditional top tier media. Responsible for a range of strategic and tactical responsibilities in active and reactive media relations, thought leadership, strategic events, and planning.
**Your responsibilities**:
- Act as external communications support for the Electrification Business Area, it’s divisions and for Country.
- Implement the integrated media plan to advance ABB's brand identity in the country that aligns with ABB’s strategy and messaging; broaden awareness of ABB’s market leadership; and increase the visibility of its products and services across key stakeholder audiences in Canada via media pitches, content creation.
- Proactive engagement with national media, business media and key trade media.
- Support key leaders in the country with thought leadership content, media guidance and speaking opportunities.
- Obtains news topics from businesses, divisions and headquarters and prioritizes and plans optimum dissemination of content through trade media, internal communications, or social media channels.
- Works with global, country and business teams to create and manage announcements and campaigns, media strategy and media measurement.
- Develops and maintains professional relationships with trade media, bloggers, key influencers, and industry analysts.
- Lead strategic events forecasting and planning for country and Electrification segments.
- Build brand awareness and position ABB at events and via thought leadership engagement.
- Digitize event approach: Expand capabilities and focus on hybrid events / webinars etc.
- Creating and publishing content on all social media platforms, to grow an audience, build brand awareness, and ultimately, boost sales.
- Plan, develop and execute social media calendar.
- Keep up to date with our audience’s preferences and proactively suggest new campaigns.
- Act as Brand expert, ensure brand consistency and understand brand guidelines. Acts as go-to
- expert for Canada.
**Your background**:
- Undergraduate degree or higher in communications, public relations, journalism, mass communication, or related area
- Minimum of 5 years communication experience in a corporate or agency setting with strong story telling skills
- Fluently bilingual (written and oral)
- Long term established relationships with business media.
- Demonstrable experience handling corporate crisis communication on a national scale.
- In-depth experience in proactive and reactive media relations and crisis management and develop-ing campaigns, writing plans on positive and negative (including crisis) issues.
- Ability to effectively interact and counsel senior management and internal/external constituencies with a high degree of professionalism. Comfortable coaching and interacting with executives from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with ability to get message across by adopting a range of styles, tools, and techniques appropriate to the audience and nature of information.
- Strong news, feature, and new media writing skills with good writing samples (references will be required for authentication) and superb oral communication skills.
- Creative, speech writing and similar experience. Existing knowledge of AP Style.
