Highview is not a regular retirement home and this is not your regular House Keeping job. Highview Residences offers specialized care for people with dementia. It is purposely-built with a unique design that is just like your home only bigger: private bedroom and bathroom, small dining room, walking gardens and truly person-centered care.

The House Keeper will also ensure our residents Home is meticulously well cared for. The House Keeper will work with cooperation and kindness with the other members of the team. Note: this is not a high-rise building or typical “facility”. Highview Residences consists of two large, bungalow-style homes on one site, with 26 and 28 residents in each.

**Key Attributes and Qualifications**

To be successful as a Highview Residences’ Housekeeper an individual must have the following combination of attributes and qualifications:

- Absolute commitment to and promotion of the belief that people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia can live meaningful lives surrounded by people who are committed to their well-being, security and care
- Ability to adapt to frequently changing and challenging situations
- Personal resilience and resolve
- Consistent ability to respect and positively contribute to a multi-disciplinary, multi-task team environment
- A current clean Criminal Record/Police Check; Vulnerable Persons
- A current TB test
- Current CPR, Food Handler and Gentle Persuasive Approach Certifications
- ORCA modules
- Must have successfully passed probation of 450-hours and have a clean employee file regarding disciplines
- Must be available to work weekends
- Member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee and MSDS training
- Adhere to Health & Safety policies and regulations
- Attend training courses as and when required

**Key Responsibilities**:Reporting to the Coordinator of Facilities and Grounds and under the direction of the Coordinator perform a variety of housekeeping duties to ensure the Residence is maintained in a safe, clean and sanitary condition while following IPAC protocols:

- Preparing a variety of delicious breakfasts for the residents of both cottages
- Follows proper food handling and storage techniques; keeps work area SAFE, clean, sanitary and uncluttered.
- Treats residents, visitors and staff with respect at all times.
- taking initiative to ensure resident safety and satisfaction is a priority, interacting with residents and visitors in a friendly manner while also providing customer service
- Ability to adapt to frequently changing and challenging situations with resilience and good time management, ability to prioritize, and multi-task.
- Clean and maintain assigned areas in an orderly and attractive manner, ensuring that the highest degree of cleanliness and sanitation is always maintained
- Follow the cleaning schedule for rooms to ensure there is a deep-clean happening as well as common areas, the Mezzanine, the lobby and the Kitchen.
- Adhere and follow schedule of weekly deep cleaning of resident rooms, ensuring bathrooms are sanitized, bed linen is changed, and rooms are vacuumed, dusted and tidy.
- Dusting living room, common areas, indoor sunroom tables, TV stand and furniture as per assigned schedule
- Vacuum/magic mop common areas including but not limited to living room, TV room, Sitting rooms, dining rooms and public washrooms daily.
- Communicate with team members regarding complete room cleaning schedule daily to ensure they are not completing a daily tidy on the room that is scheduled for deep cleaning.
- Ensure that garbage has been removed to the appropriate and designated area while keeping it clean and sanitized. (especially when maintenance off, long weekends, vacation etc)
- submitting maintenance work orders to the maintenance team as needed
- Other duties as assigned.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: From $18.66 per hour

Expected hours: 15 per week
