**Position Summary**:
The Emergency Department (ED) Housekeeping Aide maintains environmental and infection prevention and control standards within established policies and procedures of St. Mary’s General Hospital. The ED Housekeeping Aide performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms and bays, waiting rooms, hallways, washrooms, offices, and other assigned tasks in the hospital outside of the inpatient housekeeping team hours. The ED Housekeeping Aide is an integral member of the ED team and works collaboratively with the ED Attendants in maintaining cleaning standards within the ED and other areas as assigned.

**Position Requirements**:

- Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Ability to receive and comprehend written and verbal instructions concerning job routines, operation of equipment and safety precautions.
- Ability to work in and contribute to a team environment to collectively achieve departmental goals.
- Ability to work effectively with mínimal supervision and direction throughout completion of tasks and daily priorities.

**Preferred Requirements**:

- Minimum three (3) years’ recent experience working in a housekeeping role.
- Housekeeping Certificate for Healthcare Setting.
- Familiarity with Hospital Waste protocols and standards.
- Knowledge of Infection Control procedures in a health care setting.
- Keyboard skills an asset.Knowledge of Infection Control procedures in a health care setting.
