**Position Overview**

The Cultural Facilitator will work closely with Registered Early Childhood Educators and Assistants to bring rich cultural experiences into the program, directly engaging with children while modeling these practices for educators. This collaborative role emphasizes planning, reflecting, and integrating cultural teachings into play-based and inquiry-driven learning, ensuring a cohesive team approach. The **Pedagogical Lead Consultant** will provide ongoing leadership, mentorship, and support, serving as the primary point of contact for guidance, collaboration, and resolution of any challenges that arise in the role. Together with the Indigenous Languages Educator and other team members, the Cultural Facilitator will contribute to creating meaningful, culturally grounded learning opportunities for children

- Cultural Responsibilities:_
- Design and implement culturally enriched activities that honor Indigenous traditions, teachings, and values.
- Share knowledge of Indigenous culture, stories, songs, and ceremonies, fostering understanding and appreciation among children and staff.
- Collaborate with the Indigenous Languages Educator to incorporate language teachings into daily programming.
- Ensure cultural practices align with the values of the community and center, seeking guidance from Elders or Knowledge Keepers as needed.
- Program Support:_
- Partner with Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) to plan and deliver inquiry
- and play-based learning opportunities enriched with cultural content.
- Actively engage with children during activities, modeling cultural practices and inquiry-driven facilitation for educators.
- Support educators in reflecting on how to integrate cultural teachings into their daily practice.
- Assist in adapting programming to ensure it is inclusive and respectful of diverse cultural perspectives.
- Community Engagement:_
- Build strong relationships with children, families, and the broader community to foster trust and inclusion.
- Act as a cultural liaison, facilitating connections between families and the center to strengthen cultural continuity.
- Participate in community events and initiatives that promote cultural awareness and education.
- Team Collaboration:_
- Consult with the Pedagogical Lead Consultant for mentorship, guidance, and support in navigating program challenges or team dynamics.
- Work closely with educators to plan and evaluate the success of culturally grounded learning experiences.
- Provide ongoing mentorship to educators in integrating Indigenous perspectives into their pedagogy.
- Contribute to the development of resources and materials that reflect the center’s cultural values and teachings.

**Qualifications**
- Strong knowledge of Indigenous cultures, languages, and teachings, with experience in sharing and facilitating cultural practices.
- Demonstrated ability to work respectfully with children, families, and colleagues in a culturally inclusive environment.
- Experience collaborating with educators in a childcare or educational setting is an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with children, families, and team members.
- Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development related to Indigenous knowledge and early childhood education.
- Early Childhood Education Diploma or a related field **is an asset but not required.**:

- Current police check/vulnerable sector, First Aid & CPR Level C.
