The Healing of The Seven Generations is honoured to share that its program, Ga'nigǫhi:yo Indigenous Child Care and Family Centre is seeking dedicated Early Childhood Assistants for both part time and full time positions.

Ga'nigǫhi:yo Indigenous Child Care and Family Centre is rooted in the principles of community, cultural respect, and a holistic approach to education and well-being. Our center is a safe and nurturing space where children can explore, learn, and grow in connection with their community, the land, and the teachings of Indigenous culture. We believe in fostering strong, meaningful relationships with children, families, and the community as we inspire lifelong learners.

**Position Overview**

In this role, you will work closely with program team educators, with our Cultural Facilitator and Indigenous Languages Educator to create culturally rich learning experiences that celebrate and incorporate Indigenous knowledge, values, and language. Together as a team, you will support both children and educators by guiding the integration of cultural teachings into everyday learning and providing ongoing opportunities for professional learning and personal growth.

**Responsibilities will include but not be limited to**:
**- Create a Caring Environment**:Provide a nurturing and respectful space where children feel loved, supported, and accepted. Foster a sense of Belonging by building trusting relationships with children and their families.Embodying the 7 grandfather teachings in a good way to model for children.

**- Support Holistic Development**:Plan and implement engaging experiences that support children through the good life cycle from birth to age seven. Promote children’s development through the seven stages of the life cycle of development and traditional milestones. Collaborate with the Pedagogical Lead Consultant to align activities with best practices in early childhood development

**- Encourage Self-Expression**:Create opportunities for children to express themselves through a variety of media, honouring their voices and perspectives. Utilize culturally relevant storytelling, art, and music to support children’s self-identity and sense of community.

**- Collaborate with Cultural Facilitators and Language Educators and other professionals**:Work closely with the Cultural Facilitator and Indigenous Language Educator to design and implement learning experiences that honour Indigenous traditions, language, and values. Partner with the Pedagogical LeadConsultant to integrate these cultural elements with inquiry-based and play-centered practices.

**- Observe, Document, and Reflect**:Use observation and documentation to understand each child’s unique development, interests, and needs. Reflect on these observations to adapt the learning environment and activities to support children’s growth**.**

**- Engage with Families and Community**:Communicate openly and positively with families, building partnerships that respect each family’s culture, values, and experiences. Participate in center-wide events, gatherings, and cultural celebrations.

**- Dedicated to continuously enhancing program quality**:actively engaging and participating in the _Early Years Engage Continuous Quality Improvement_ process through the Region of Waterloo and other initiatives. Work with the Pedagogical Lead Consultant to implement quality improvement strategies and professional development goals.

**- Other duties as required**:Fulfil additional responsibilities as needed to support the center’s goals and operations.

**Education, Qualifications and Skills**:

- Experience working in early childhood settings, with an understanding of child development and pedagogy and or willingness to learn.
- Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and values, or a willingness to learn and engage respectfully.
- A compassionate, patient, and positive attitude, with a commitment to fostering a caring and inclusive environment.
- Ability to create a learning environment that promotes Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement, and Expression working collaboratively with team members.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work as a supportive team member
- Experience with early childhood care or education, with knowledge of Indigenous culture and values.
- Current police check/vulnerable sector, First Aid & CPR Level C.
- Immunizations required according to the Medical Officer of Health

**Working Conditions**
- Occasional participation in community events or family engagement activities.
- Monthly staff meetings, planning time and opportunities to connect with team educators
